Markets

GRAIN PRICES (Markets by Lamson Bros. & Co., 212 Union National Bant Building) CHICAGO, 111., Oct. 7. The grain markets were strong from the start. Wheat was the leader and, in turn, was influenced to a large extent by Liverpool and Winnipeg. The Turkish situation is not good, but what is more important, foreigners have been too deliberate in securing supplies and were again today obliged to come Into the market in a liberal way. English stocks decreased 1,600,000 bushels In September and are more than 5,000,000 bushels less than a year ago. , The volume of export business was big, particularly for a Saturday trade. The car situation shows no material improvement. Much needed rains fell over some parts of the winter wheat belt. Corn showed a remarkably firm undertone, with the trade much larger than that of recent days. Local trad ers who have been friendly to the mar ket sold out to a large extent yester day and the day before, so that today the market went into new high ground with little pressure. Oats advanced largely In sympathy with other grains. RANGE OF FUTURES (Markets by Lamson Bros. & Co., 212 ITnion National Bank Building) CHICAGO, Oct. 7. The French are still keeping up the war game and will be prepared for eventualities in case the Teuton race ever again crosses the Rhine. In the maneuvers just held the tanks played an important role. The photograph shows them preparing to unload in readiness to repel the Red or invading army.
