GUAIN PRICES ! (Markets by Lamson Bros. & Co., 212 Union National Bank Building) ; CHICAGO, Sept, 23. Wheat broke badly at the opening, due to a general belief that tne danger of immediate war in the near east was over. While there was good support on declines, the market failed to hold rallies and the close was easy. There was, "however, buying which seemed to indicate
seaboard demand, but professional
traders were so influenced by weak ness in Winnipeg that they were will
ing sellers whenever the market acted
firm. Corn and oats were affected "by wheat, but had better support. Country offerings to arrive were small, but there is. a good deal of corn and oats on the road and some increase in receipts is likely next week. RANGE OF FUTURES (Markets by Lamson Bros. & Co., 212 Union National Bank Building)

REFUGEES PERMITTED
TO LEAVE BY TURKS
(By Associated Press) WASHINGTON, Sept. 23. State de
partment advices today from Smyrna reported the decision of the Turkish Nationalist authorities not to establish further concentration camps there for refugees and said that except for
Greek males between 18 and 45, held as prisoners of war, all remaining refugees were being permitted to leave
Smyrna as accommodations are found for them. Two ships chartered by the Greek relief committee at Constantinople, have arrived at Smyrna in charge of the British naval authorities and will carry 14,000 refugees to the island of Mytelene for later repatriation to Greece. The steamship Constantinople sailed yesterday for the island with 2.000 refugees for whom relief committees paid the passage money. 'The destroyer, Edsall, at Smyrna, reported that 13 more American refugees had reported at the consulate there and that other American citizens still were believed to be in the concentration camps.
300 PERSONS WITNESS CULLING OF POULTRY The biggest poultry culling demonstration yet conducted in the county was held on the Forest Brook farm west of Richmond, Friday evening. About 200 persons attended, and the
crowd was so large that many had no opportunity of receiving the instruction given by Mr. Dolan, who supervised the demonstration.
The demonstration was held at night
under an arc light, a flock of 300 hens were culled. After explaining the principles to be followed, spectators were allowed to handle the birds and
to classify them as layers or non-
layers, their decisions being reviewed
by Mr. Dolan. The flock, which is undeT the man
agement of Ed Toschlog, was found to be of an unusually high grade, 20 per cent grading No. 1, against the usual
percentage of 10 per cent or less for
this season. Of 153 first examined, 33 were classed as extra good, 86 as
medium and 34 as culls.

UNDERNOURISHMENT
FOUND IN SCHOOLS
SHELBY VILLE, Ind., Sept. 23. An
alarming condition of undernourishment among the Shelbyville grade
school children has been discovered by examinations conducted by Miss Ama Clarke, public school nurse. Miss Clarke was retained just recently and has been spending the past week in the first monthly weighing and measurement of the grade school children.
Undernourishment, even to the point of emaciation, was frequently found, the condition being due, not to insufficient but to improper foods. Examination of lunch boxes after the physical . examinations showed a preponderance of such foods as pickles, cold biscuits, cold weiner sandwiches, cold fried meats, candy-frosted cookies, and insufficiently ripened fruits. Emphasis is put on use of milk in
school lunches in Miss Clarke's recommendations and a milk feeding clinic for children five younds under
weight will be started soon.
