PETITIONS CIRCULATED

TO GET TAX PROPOSAL

ON PREBLE BALLOTS EATON, Ohio. Sept. 21. If 560 I names are obtained on a petition being circulated by the county commissloners, a resolution will be adopted by

.the commissioners that will provide ' for a vote of the electorate of Preble

' county on a proposal to make an ex

tra levy of one mill, outside of all tax limitations, for a period of three years,

-.for road purposes. , Twelve petitions are being circulat

ed in the county. x It is necessary to get 560 signatures on the petition before the commissioners can put

through a resolution to get the pro

posal entered upon the regular ballot

in the coming November election.

The one-mill extra levy would yield

approximately $48,000 yearly, the com

"missioners estimate. The fund would

be apportioned among the 12 town

' ships in the county, based upon each

ilton, is held in jail here in default of

51,000 bond, charged with theft of an automobile. He is alleged to have stolen a car of Luther Coffman, local farmer, from the streets here two weeks ago. Terry's arrest followed recovery of the car in Hamilton. Pot lice say he has confessed to stealing the car. Fair Board Nominees Pomona grange of Preble county, through a duly appointed committee, has nominated and recommended the following candidates for election to membership on the county fair board at the annual election of members, to be conducted next week at the annual county fair: Israel township, A. H. Morton; Jackson township, E. T. Morse; Jefferson township, Clarence Barr; Monroe township, Julius Waters; Washington township, Henry Dalrymple; Gratis townsrip, C. C. Lane; Twin township, John Unger. There are seven members to be elected on the board this year. Gets $30O Verdict.

politicians is regarded by all the na

tive papers as a necessity of the hour, if the Egyptian political and educa

tional structures are to be saved from

disruption.

The students in the universities and

high schools of the country who came

forward last year and Joined in street demonstrations to help win political freedom for Egypt, have now developed a new movement which seems to be a general revolt against all existing customs that conflict with their own personal aggrandisement. The students, conscious of their power, have turned their energies to eliminating examinations. Their political slogan a year ago was: "We do not want the English." Today they are shouting: "We want no more examinations." And they are keen enough to plan a campaign which will

use politics as a lever to make easier their classroom work. The elections for members of the new parliament are set for October. The students aim to see that only candidates who heed their demands are returned' to both houses. Their election cries are now being tried out in this wise: "Vote for Mahmond Bey and no examinations." Followers of Zaghloul Pasha are taking advantage of the students' overzealousness and are showering upon them all kinds of promises In return for votes at the coming elections.
