DAZZY VANCE PROVES -UNDOING OF REDLEGS ON EBBET'S FIELD

BROOKLYN, Sept. 14. Dazzy Vance was good enough himself to trim the Redlegs, but his team-mates were ahle to connect with the offerings of Eppa Rlxey timely enough to push across a tally In each of the fifth, seventh and eighth Innings for a 3 to 2 win, In Wednesday's opening battle at Ebbet's field. Pop-up flies were about the best the Moran crew of batters could do with the offerings of Vance. Daubert was the only Red to hit consistently. He took a two base hit. Babe Pinelll hit a triple In the ninth with two down, but the remainder of the batting order could not produce. Robins Are Consistent Regardless of the fact that the Reds were not hitting as consistently as they should to win. their two run lead obtained In the third inning looked

pood for a victory. Rixey had the Robins shut-out until after two were gone In the fifth, then DeBerry shot a hot one between third and short. Bohne rushed over and made a fine stop, but the throw was just too long, and the batter beat it Vance dropped

a pop-up In short right close to the foul line. DeBerry taking third and

scoring on Olson's smash over third

for two bases. Johnston luted to onseca for the third out.

. It was all due to Dazzy Vance's

curve ball, which the Reds broke their

backs trying to hit. Rsdlegs Lead

The two run lead obtained by the Reds was made In the third inning when Pinelli worked Vance for a walk.

Bohne lifted a fly to right which Griffith got well under and then muffed (load, putting two runners on. Rixey's bunt was a pop fly just over Schmidt's

head, as the first baseman came onto the grass to handle it Schmidt got Rixey at first. Olson handled the throw and then tried to get Bohen at second, but the throw went into the left field and Pinelll scored, Sammy going to third. Burns nent a long fly out to center, Bohne trotting home on the catch, John Couch was sent to hurl for the Redlegs Thursday and Walter Ruether was to oppose him. The score:

GRAYS DROP LYNN BY ONE-SIDED DECISION; KNOTT MAKES HOMER Mike Knott hit a home run in the seventh Inning of Wednesday's game at Exhibition park when the Cambridge Grays walked-off with a12 to 0 victory over the Lynn ball club, Ovid McCracken. Detroit hurler, was in uniform with the Lynn team, but he did not attempt to hurl. He

went into the outfield in the last inning, however. Two Hurlers Used. . Lynn used two pitchers inx an attempt to stop the Grays, but from the third inning, the game was the same as iced away. Knott swungShard in his times at bat to the early part of the game, but he could not get square with it until he let fly with one in the seventh after he had swung twice. The apple rode far into center field and the fielder lost the ball in the weeds, while

Arguments Prevail. Considerable argument about the

decision of the "Umps" marred the game for the matinee, but after a new

umpire had been installed the two

clubs went along without any more trouble. Cambridge will play the winner of the Liberty-Eagle game, which was scheduled for Thursday afternoon at Exhibition park. The final game with Cambridge and the winner of Thursday's game will be played Friday. The score: Lynn. AB RH PO A E Hoover, cf 3 0 0 2 0 0

BUICK

At the Fair

HEY, KIDS!

In beauty of appearance, dependability and economy of operation, the Buick has established an entirely. new standard for motor cars. Its low body with its clean, straight lines, accentuated by the high radiator and straight hood, give it a long, racy appearance that is new to cars of its class. Massive crown fenders add to this distinction, as do the snug-fitting, shapely top and the handsome drum-type head and cowl lamps. And with this beauty has come a new riding comfort. The seats are deep and low with leg room in both compartments. The steering column has been changed in position to increase driving ease and the gear shift lever has been raised to meet the driver's hand. A transmission lock, a windshield adjustable from the inside, and a transmission driven speedometer likewise are among the many new refinements of this car. : Material changes also have been made which contribute still further to the wonderful performance record characteristic of Buick cars for twenty years. Both Buick Fours and Sixes will be shown for your approval at the Wayne County Fair, Sept. 13, 14 and 15. We welcom e you to see our display. t
