CO-OPERATIVE ARTIST COURSE IS PLANNED; FIRST OF ITS KIND

4 (By Associated Press). CHICAGO, Sept. 14. The Chicago Chamber Opera company has been formed on the co-operative artists' plan to produce six Americas operas thia winter, Mrs. Archibald Freer, Its chairman, a society woman, has an

nounced. "This is the first plan ot the kind ever to be launched, said

Mrs. Freer. "Each opera will be a genuine American production, and will be heard twice. Miss Rachel Kinsolving is manager of the company." Mrs. Freer paid the new company was an outgrowth of efforts to promote opera in English and to encourage American musicians and composers, as advocated by the Opera in Our Language Foundation and by the , David Bispham Memorial Fund. Mrs. Freer is national chairman of both foundations as well as chairman of the Chicago company. Mrs. Edith Rockefeller McCormick is vice-chairman, of the national organization. Meets Good Response "The response which our work is i receiving," said Mrs. Freer, "is indl- : cated by a resolution which the Gen- ! eral Federation of Women's Clubs passed at its convention in Chautau-

tqua. N. y., last June, a copy of which

has been sent to me by the national chairman of music of the federation, Mrs. Marx Obendorfer." The resolution follows:. "There has been for many years the need for a truly American plan to promote public interest in the American singer and composer, thus establishing an American school of-opera and national nnora bniicaa ti-Vt irn eromifna

The Theatres

WASHINGTON . A vivid, unusual atory, a star of undoubted merit, a succession of exquisite settings all superbly directed and artistically photographed that is a tabloid version of William S. Hart's

latest ' Paramount picture, "TraveUn" On," to be presented at the Washington theatre today for a limited season

of three days.

The picture is a virilo ty'plflcatlon of

Arizona as it was in its most pictures

que days, when might was right, and a highly-sprung trigger finger dictated

the law. It Introduces many charact

era which have .long ceased to exist, chief among them being the fiery zealot, traveling from town to town In a

wagon painted with Biblical phrases,

preaching the word of God in the faee

of ' most determined opposition. In this, and In many other respects the picture is truly an epic of the West,

for It Is faithfully preserving for pos

terity the West as it was and as it will never be again. The supporting cast includes Ethel Grey Terry, Brinsley Shaw and Mary Jane Irving.

I'RKD BY TH11KR GENERATIONS "I usb Foley's Honey and Tar personally, give it to all my children and now to my grandchildren with the same

good results. I tried many kinds of

ooug-u medicines, nut never want anything hut Foley's Honey and Tar," writes Mrs. E. K. Ol!on, Superior, Wise. Kolev's Honey and Tar was established In 1875 and has stood the test of time serving" three generations, -ft quickly relieves colds, coughs and croup, throat, rh'-nt and bronchial trouble. A. O.

sunshine brings happiness and content Under solemn oath to kill the man who shot his father. David Cree, respected and loved by the whole community in which he lives, faces the repudiation of his oath or a charge of murder and sacrificing hie love for the girl he Intends to marry. An unex pected turn or fate at the last moment relieves the man of his oath and brings a great happiness to everyone

concerned. . It is a story well told,

wonderfully photographed and portrayed by a capable star with a splendid supporting cast.

MURRAY Opening with a deer hunt in the hills of West Virginia, which terminates in the cowardly shooting of Alderson Cree, the new Select Picture, "Seeds of Vengeance," starring Bernard Durning. which today opened at the Murraq theatre, gains dramatic intensity as a spring rivulet takes up volume until it becomes a roaring onrush of seething" waters. One breathtaking climax : succeeds another in rapid succession right up to the big final scene showing a mountain storm In all its unbound fury, whipping about like puppets the bits of humanity who form a many-sided angle of love and bate. It is the storm which straightens out the tangled threads of several human lives and with the following

MASTODON BONES IN CANADA VANCOUVER, B. C Sept. 14. Bones of the mastodons that once roamed northern Canada have been discovered in a valley in the far northern section of British. Columbia, close to the Yukon border, by a Vancouver man. In addition to the bones there

are footprints in tne sandstones and shale of some other prehistoric monster. These are clearly denned marks showing that the maker of the tracks was a three-toed anlmaL. The bones.

which are of a good size, are not fossilized.

THE dependability of the Studebakcr Big-Six is due to correct design, the use of the best materials money can buy and the highest standard of workmanship. Studebaker stands in absolute control of the quality of the materials at all times, be-, cause Studebaker makes in its own plants such vital parts as motors, transmissions, axles, frames, bodies, tops, castings, forgings, stampings, etc. The parts-makers' profits on such items are, therefore, eliminated and only one manufacturing profit is included in Studebaker prices. The Big-Six is distinctive in appearance with its handsome body arid many refinements. It offers genuine comfort through its long semi-elliptic springs,

restful 9 -inch seat cushions, fine upholstery and shock absorbers. It is economical to buy and own, and enjoys a high resale value. The new price of $1650 for the Big-Six Touring car is the lowest at which it has ever sold. Yet the quality is actually better than ever and this means a value that is duplicated nowhere else in the field of fine cars. You won't find greater satisfaction at any price. The Big-Six Touring car provides ample room for seven. When not in use the auxiliary seats fold neatly out of sight always ready for instant use when you. need them. The name Studebaker is our greatest asset and your best protection.
