The Czech crown, which until last autumn had followed the fluctuations of the German mark, has now established its independence in the world's exchanges. Since the creation of the republic the bulk of trade has been with Germany, although the United States is gaining an increasing share of it. Where Exports Go According to official figures, 47.7 per cent of Czech imports in 1921 came from Germany, the latter country taking 36.2 per cent of Czech exports. Every Czech realizes that the

problems concern the much-needed re-j duction in producting costs, the cost'
of living, the reduction of taxation, and amelioration of the housing situation. At present Prague is one of the most expensive cities in Europe. One of the causes is the tremendous national budget, which is swollen by heavy military expenses. Compared with Vienna and Buda
pest, Prague presents an appearance of prosperity and alertness. There i3 not that sense of despair, uncertainty and indecision which the American traveler meets in Vienna. While other European capitals suffered by the Great War, Prague was hardly affected until the revolution of 191. when she awoke suddenly to find herself one of the great capitals of Europe. Czechoslovakia's political system is based upon the strictest democratic principles, her policy being one of innovation and evolution along republican lines. Bolshevism has been crushed. Drastic land reforms have been made, to appease the appetite of the masses. No one is allowed to hold more than 250 hectares of arable land or 500 hectares of forest land. Owing to increased wages, the working classes live in comfortable content. There is little unemployment.

They were scattered all over my face and itched and burned a great deal. The trouble lasted four or five months before I began using Cuticura Soap and Ointment. After a few days they afforded relief, and when I had used one cake of Cuticura Soap and one box of Cuticura Ointment I was healed." (Signed) Arthur E. Sandroann, 3916 Denison Ave,,. Discounting the "Discount" in Advance You don't have to be a shrewd bargainer to get the bottom price on the new Goodyear Cross-Rib Tread Cord. Instead of listing it at a high jrice, to enable the dealer to attract you with a so-called "long discount," we list it as low as we profitably can. You can see from the figures below that its advertised price is lower than the net price you are asked to pay for many "long discount" tires of unknown value. - We believe the average man would rather buy tires on this frank and open basis, and assure himself a product of recognized worth. The new Goodyear Cross-Rib Tread Cord is made of high-grade long-staple cotton, and it -embodies the patented Goodyear method t of group-ply construction. In design, materials and manufacture it is a representative Goodyear product, built to safeguard the world-wide Goodyear reputation. It has a different tread from the famous All-Weather Tread Cord a new tread with a deep, clean-cut, cog-like pattern and it sells for substantially less. Compare these prices -with NET prices you are asked to pay for "long discount" tires

MORE MILK FOR A LONGER TIME How much milk should a cow produce to pay for her keep? One authority has it that 5000 pounds of milk are necessary before a cow shows a profit. This, of course, depends on the breed and amount of feed consumed. Assuming that 5000 pounds is about the average, any amount in excess represents profit. How are we to get this excess? By feeding the proper ration to the cow so that she will produce more
milk daily and for more days in the i
year. Cows must be fed and cared for 365 days each year. There is no reason why they should not milk ten months instead of only eight. Proper feed will also produce an extra quart or so of milk each day. This means fewer idle months between calves, fewer cows to produce the same amount of milk, or more milk from the same number of cows and a better herd each year. Whelan's Wonder Feed supplies the proper combination of high class dairy feeds to produce the results desired. By its carefully planned variety there is insured an ample supply of vitamines and proteins; by its high digestible values Wonder Feed supplies the cows with all the factors necessary for a heavy and continuous production. It, is bulky and safe, is rich in mineral matter and insures strong, healthy calves. Many of the best milk producers in the country have been using Wonder Feed. Try a sack you'll buy more afterwards.

GOOD C0CKERALS As a result of the farm egg laying contest being conducted throughout the state by the Extension Department of Purdue University the farmers in at least one
county are making an effort to im
prove their flocks. Several cock
erels from hens having . behind them a 200 egg record have been brought into the county. Tho farm men and women have found that good sires pay with horses, with cattle and with hogs. They are now applying the knowledge gained by experience a little bit farther. No doubt we will hear of greater improvement in the farm flocks during the next year than in any year of the past. We would suggest that any one in Wayne county who wishes to get a few good cockerels write to the Poultry Department at Lafayette for the addresses of recognized breeders or Omer G. Whelan, Tho Feed Man will be glad to supply the information.
Hogs make right good corn cutters when soys are planted in the same field'. "Hogging down" corn is not slip-shod practice: often it pays. A few nicks with a file on some unexpected part of your Ford may help you toudentify it in case it's stolen. Drain your land before your land drains you. In the morning, sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thy hand; for thou knowest not whether shall prosper either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good. Ecclesiastes XI, 6. Possibilities of Indiana Fruit
Seen at Meeting The possibilities of Indiana as a . fruit state to compete successfully . against the famed fruit-growing regions of the Pacific and Atlantic coasts were revealed to a thousand . or more persons who attended the annual summer field meeting ot . the Indiana Horticultural Society, . held Aug. 2 and 3 at Vincennes.' The meeting was largely a tour of commercial fruit and apple orchards in Knox county and was a revelation to hundreds of persons, many of them from surrounding' Ftates. Several thousand acres of peach and apple orchards, with hundredsof peach trees breaking down un- ' der their load of ripening fruit, -were seen by the tourists. The ap1 . ,7 'w.n m

thousands of bushels greeted the eyes of the visitors. The situation, in regard to Indlana fruit was aptly put by Prof. Lauronz Greene, head of the horticultural department of Purdue university, when he pointed out the" advantage which Indiana and other middle West products have over those from the far West in the. matter of transportation and - freight rates alone. "Indiana fruit is in the highest class, and can not be beaten for quality by any section of the country," said Prof. Greene. He pro- -duced statistics to show that on the various markets of the country during the last few years Hoosier
I orchard products had commanded
higher prices than those from other ., states. - - . , . . - Besides the good fruit yields seen on every hand, the visitors were, given some real worth while info"- , mation on fruit production, by seeing at work different outfits spraying, cultivating, and performing some of the other orchard practices. It was the best meeting ever held by the society, and . was the largest attended. -
