GRAIN PRICES (Mrieis by E. F. Ltslaci Company. 212 Union National Bans BuiMmg) CHICAGO. Aug. 23 Wheat Wheat prices averaged higher today, altho best prices were not maintaining. Fluctuations were erratic cn the dip that followed the opening rise and the market rallied. There was considerable buying on an unconfirmed report of a German loan which poved later to be a Cuban loan. Later short covering and the strength in corn carried values to the high point of the day. There was evidence of some restating of short lines on the bulge. Sales of about 300,000 wheat were reported, the Continental being reported "as a slow and steady buyer. The change Is making rapM progress in the Canadian northwest and movement of the spring wheat is Increasing with hedging pressure in the northwest becom ing more pronounced. Cash market steady to 1 to 3 higher. Corn Corn was unsettled aDd although higher most of the best prices were noi new. ury ana aol"a er prevauea in me soutnwesi W1LU some further damage reports from thot section. Forecast Is for contin-i with spot premiums up a little coun try oferings only fair with the car situation an influence. Oats Oats opened lower on selling by an eastern commision house. The rally in wheat stimulated oats and prices firmed. Trade only moderate and news was without feature. The close was at a slight reaction from the high. Cash market V higher. Shipping sales placed at 115,000 bushels, indications are for a two sided marttet. RANGE OF FUTURES (Markets by E. F. Leland & Company. 212 Union National Bank Building) CHICAGO, Aug. 23.
