OHIO LEGIONNAIRES PLANNING GREATEST STATE CONVENTION

fP Associated PressX

DA i TON, Ohio, Aug. 18. Plans for what American legion men say will be the greatest state convention ever held, are "being rounded into shape here for the Ohio Legion meet, Sept. 11 and 12. The round of meetings and reunions begins Saturday, Sept. 9, with an initiation to be conducted by the "Forty Hommes and Eight Chevaux,'' the secret work of which is based upon army transportation methods in France during the war. A class of several hundred candidates will be taken in, the ritualistic work to ba performed by Columbus Voiture No. 15. "40 and 8" ReunionOn Sunday, the "Forty and Eight" will have a reunion, and on the same day, the 148th Infantry, comprising the old Third Ohio National Guard, will have its annual reunion. On that day also, the 37th division reunion will be a big affair, with an estimated attendance of close to 2.000. That division always was referred to as the "Buckeye Division," as it

was composed almost entirely oft

Ohio troops. General Charles F. Farnsworth commanded the 37th on the other side, and he is expected to take a conspicious part in the reunion, Following five district meetings and caucuses, the state convention of Legion proper will open Monday morning. Sept. 11, at the Memorial Buildins, with approximately 2,000 delegates and alternates in attendance. There will be virtually no business

transacted the first day, for in the j afternoon an immense parade will be staged, including a contest in which ( more than a thousand musicians will i be entered. This includes post bugle!

corps and bands. Monday nignt, mo visitors will be entertained with a mi'itary ball at Triangle Park. Will Elect' Officers On Tuesday, the election of officers will be held, and other business transacted, and in the evening, all delegates and alternates will be given a ' banquet. The state convention of the American Legion Auxiliary will open Wednesday, Sept 13. and close the following day. A banquet also will be provided the women. A list is being compiled of World War veterans at the Soldiers' Home, to facilitate visitors calling upon them.
