BEGIN ACTUAL WORK ON MILTON CHURCH; PLAN FINE EDIFICE MILTON, Ind, July 2G. Clearing up of debris left by tne fire -which destroyed the Milton Christian church several weeks aso. and preparation
for construction of a new church buildins, was started Tuesday. After consideration of a number of sites, the building committee finally decided upon tho old site, after it be cam possible to enlarge it by pur chase of an adjoining lot. Volunteer labor was Immediately recruited to start the work and on Tuesday morn ina Jesso Moore. Wallace Warren, Ben ton Wagner. George Wagner, Leonard Wallace. Ed Eeeson, Benton Wisslcr, Carl Williams and Rev. F. C. McCormick armed with crowbars, jacks, picks and mattocks, started levelling the old concrete walls of the basement Holes drilled In tho walls were charged with dynamite and blasted out by Har ry Hunt, to the great entertainment of the Juvenile population of the town. : After tearing down the shattered con froto work, it was planned to call in a company of wagons to haul off tne old material and clear the ground for the new excavation. Tha adjacent lot, tho Lennas property, lying Just to the east and 82 by 1184 feet in size, had been held by Indianapolis owners who only agreed to 3ts sale, at the price of $800, on the day of the final committee meeting. Its purchase gives the church title to a quarter of the block, about 152 by TI34 feet in size, a plot large enough, the members feel, to make an appropriate setting for the new building, which will bo larger than the old one. Shrubbery and other plantings will be possible in beautification of the grounds, with the additional space available. Propose Features The new building will be approximately 60 by 75 feet, and will face west as did the old one. but with the larger space available, will be set back from fh nmnfirtv line about 20 feet, even wun tne irom line oi ma par 1 sonage. It 5 proposed that the church have a room on each Bide of the main entrance, class rooms back of the pulpit, and a balcony. A basement large enough to accommodate all who may wish to attend community gatherings, is another feature upon which many have insisted. Each class of the church is iioldins meetings this week to talk over the new building and formulate its own suggestions for features which should be included. These suggestions will be given to the building committee, and. wherever possible, fitted into the final plan. Joint meetings of the Loyal Daughters and Straightway classes were held for this purpose Sunday evening, and the Ruth Circle met Monday afternoon. The Straightway class, in fact, completed full and definite plans, which were only presented as a suggestion, however. Strong interest ia still manifested, even in distant communities, in the reconstruct.ionn of the church. Still an other anonymous flOO donation was received for the building on Tuesday morning, and altogether, $5,300 has been contributed since the memorable meeting the next Sunday after the fire, when $10,500 was pledged within 20 minutes, including the gift of "all the money ehe had" by three year old Eltoile Anna Clingman. 30 DAYS PERCENT FDE REAjl CHOPS STEAK MEAL "Rogues and Romance," has dedicated that picture to the Kingdom of Spain and the citizens of Algeciras, Granada and Seville, in token of their hospital ity and co-operation in making this super-spectacle. "Rogues and Romance" is the Pathe feature coming to the Murray theatre Thursday and it depicts the dashing, daring, whimsical yet tempestuous romance of an American maid and man in Sunny Spain. It is imbued with th laEgurous tropical atmosphere of the land of the Alhambra moon and sway ing palms, of serenading troubadours' and graceful, dancing, fiery-eyed senoiitas. On the other hand, it offers great contrast in its fighting mobs of revolutionists, soldiers and citizens on the huge city plaza, where one of the most spectacular and gigantic scenes ever attempted were staged with many a thrill noi intended in the scenario. The cast supporting Miss Caprice and Mr. Seitz in "Rogues and Romance" presents Marguerite Courtot as the Spanish dancer, Harry Semels as the wily but facsinating -ogue, Frank Redman and William P.
