Erection of the big canvas auditorium in which the Chautauqua attractions will be presented, was completed today, and all practically 13 in readiness at this time for the opening of the course Friday afternoon. The auditorium tent, a brand new one, occupies a place on the campus of the south school building, where the Chautauqua has held forth for the last several years. This afternoon a ticket hunt for children was staged upon the school campus. The secreted tickets entitled the fnders to free admission to the Chautauqua during the entire meeting. The Redpath bureau supplies the attractions and the local legion post is sponsoring the meeting. To Supervise Culling County Agent E. D. together and under armed guard being taken to jaiL Lower right, SJiieriff H. H. Duval, killed while resisting the attack on the mine by f'strike sympathizers. if-'
A special grand jury will be called to investigate the attack on the mine of the Richmond Mining Company, near Cliftonville, W. Va., which resulted in the murder of Sheriff H. H. Duval by the attacking strike sympathizers. Three of the attackers also were killed. State police already have arrested nearly a score of suspects in connection with the battle. These are being put in irons and held under heavy guard. Some are said to
be suffering from wounds received in the battle. The coroner's inquest is now on. Testimony of witnesses conflicts on the number of dead. One of the surviving defenders testified he saw six dead. Reports had it that but four were killed. Testimony also brought out that the attackers carried their wounded to a nearby farmhouse for first aid. Pennsylvania state police are guarding the border oa the lookout for fugitives.
