MAY SECURE 10,000
ACRE TRACT OF LAND
NEXT WEEK AT THE
I HEAT
RES
(By Associated Press) EL PASO, July 15. Approximately 10,000 acres of land in New Mexico
may , be taken over bv veterans of
the World war In the near future. An
nouncement is made from the depart
ment of the interior. United States
land office, that a considerable area of land formerly withdrawn under the reclamation act and for reservoir sites
has been restored and will be subject
to entry at the U. S. land office at Las Cruces, N. M. Up to Sept. 27, the lands will be subject to entry under the homestead and desert land laws by qualified service men of the World war who have been honorably discharged or separated from the service or placed In the army or naval reserve. Such applications and conflicting applications will be disposed of by lot. From Sept. 28, to Oct. 18, any remaining unentered lands will be subject to homestead entry by any qualified entryman. Application may be filed from Sept. 8 to Sept. 27, inclusive, such applications to be treated as simultaneous applications. New Condition Oct. 19 Beginning Oct. 19, any remaining lands will become subject to entry under any applicable public land law.
Such lands as are within the Ele
phant Butte Irrigation district will be subject to the irrigation district taxes.
The exact location of the various
tracts of land may be obtained by reference to files 'at the U. S. land of
fice at Las Cruces. They range in
size from 225 to 640 acres.
A considerable portion of the land
is in the mesa country, not suscepti
ble to irrigation from the present El-
tephant Butte reservoir, but would be
valuable for pump irrigation m event of the obtaining of cheap power from a hydro-electric plant at the dam.
MURRAY Cullen Land is, young Goldwyn leading man, might have been a champion lightweight, had he not followed the footlights. This fact made possible one of the stiffest four round boxing matches ever filmed in a photoplay. There isn't a single "fake" punch in the thrilling fight seen in "The Man With Two Mothers," which comes to the Murray theatre for four days, commencing Sunday. The stase on which it took place was crowded
to the doors by employes of the Gold-1 wyn Studios, who deserted their posts I in a body to witness it. I From the first day's work on the picture, betting ran high as to what kind of a battle young Landis would put up; and needless, to say, the fight scene, while occurring in the middle
of the photoplay, wa3 not photographed until the very last. Director Paul Bern knew the young actor was going to make it a real battle, and probably emerge a beautiful black bruise on his cheek bone, and a dislocated thumb, while William Elmer, his adversary, (an old tiiv I follower of the ring, who handled the gloves with Corbett in his time) had a few stitches taken in his head. While neither spared the other, each had a wholesome respect for' his opponent when it was over. Landis, panting, and dishevelled, flung an arm over Elmer's shoulder, and said: "I had to do it, old boy. You know the story calls for me to give vou a licking!"

those in which he attempts to wreck revenge on a group of Orientals who are trying to do away with his master, Owen Moore. Pauline Garon, the perfect flapper,
furnishes the romance and gives an j excellent portrayal of a young girl madly in love and intent upon making herself the inspiration of the man she j adores. Owen Moore, the lucky man, i
in the character of Richard Boyd, cer
tainly needs th inspiration as he is the absolute limit insofar as not caring whether school keeps or not. . "Reported Missing" is fine entertainment throughout.

MURRETTE The much talked-of picture, "Reported Missing," comes to the Murrette theatre Sunday. This Selznick picture in which Owen Moore is starred is really one of those super-produo-tions we hear so much about but rarely see. It is full of the type of thrills which have made motion pictures the world's most popular entertainment
One of these scenes, a race between a sea sled and a hydroaeroplane, i3 worth the price of admission alone.
Following this chase comes one in high powered autos. In this latter race Moore, in the part of Richard
Boyd, stages a scene which is the replica of those thrilling events which fill the daily papers on summer. Mon
days. In endeavoring to steer clear of a child in his path he swings his machine over an embankment. In addition to these thrills there is a shipwreck which contains a series of remarkable sea scenes photographed in a manner which vividly illustrates the rapid artistic advance of the cinema. Tom Wilson, one of D. W. Griffith's old stand-bys, is the prime mover in a lot of comedy"" scenes, particularly
