WAYNE FARMERS SAY PERMANENT COUNTY FAIR IS ADVOCATED Another county fair was the subject of discussion of a meeting of representative "Wayne county farmers at Centerville Friday night. It was the unanimous opinion of the assembly, which included L. E. Kinsey of Green's Fork, Frank Williams, Charles Gifford and W. B. Strong of Fountain City, Raymond Farst of Franklin township, Wood Eliason of Centerville, and other farmers from different parts of the county, that a fair should be held, but it was stated that a general support by all the 'county woud be necessary to make it a success. A committee of three, representing the western, central and eastern parts of the county, was suggested to in vestigate the possibility of a fair, and if it should be found practicable, to select and secure a site and make further arrangements. The committee was promised blanket authority with support of the breed associations pledged, representatives of the Percheron Horse breeders, the Big Type Poland China and Duroc Jersey swine breeders being present at the meeting. Advisory committees will be appointed by the associated breed organizations, but the decision of the first committee will be final. Sentiment for Fair. Talks by farmers present indicated a strong demand, in ell parts of the county, for the fair. One speaker stated that he had observed a strong tendency, on the part of many who had thought the plans for a fair had been dropped, to initiate a movement for the show on their own account. "Without any solicitation, or even a definite promise that a fair would be held, I have been offered two boars, a Poland China and a Duroc Jersey, and $10 in cash, to be applied as prizes at the fair," said Wood Eliason. "We started without a dollar last year paid $1,600 expenses and came out ' clear, and without a very large attendance. "If the fair i3 located this year where a larger attendance can be secured, financing it will be an easy matter. It was in the hope of a bigger affair, that we abandoned the old organization." People Supporting Fair "I would hate to see the county lose the ground already gained," said Frank Williams. "We have started holding an annual fair, the people expect and want it, and are supporting it more liberally all the time and to fail of holding one this year would be disappointing to the whole county.", The desirability of working toward a permanent fair was emphasized by County Agent Dolan. "I believe the fair association lost seriously last year by being compelled to pull up stakes after ths fair was over," he said. "Like the others, I have seen a strong demand for a fair and heard frequent expressions in favor of it, both among the farmers and the business men. Credit to County. "I am firmly convinced that a representative body, of both farmers and business men, could establish a county fair that would be a credit to the county." Other speeches advanced further arguments fey a permanent, "annual fair, located near a transportation center, and administered by an organization or committee representative of all sections of the county and of both farmers and townsmen.
