RICHMOND AVIATION

UNIT GIVEN IMPETUS;

MAY SECURE PLANES

Establishment of an aviation tmlt in Richmond was planned fcy a group of Interested ex-serrice men of army, navy and marine corps units who met in the offices of Floyd Showalter Tuesday evening. A census of those present demonstrated the fact that nucleus of the personnel for at least one flight was interested enough to attend the meeting, while it is thought men to fill all positions are available in this territory. ' Four pilots.and one flight surgeon, sufficient for the commissioned personnel, were at the meeting, as well as men who had seen service as mechanicians, electricians and other services, even a mess sergeant 'and a top sergeant although they asked that the positions they had held be "kept quiet." A second meeting will be held at the same place on the evening of Thursday, July 6, when a skeleton organization is expected to be completed. Names of all ex-service men

who are possible members of the proposed unit were divided among the present, who agreed to visit them personally and attempt to interest

enough to complete one flight of a

squadron. , May Secure Planes It was stated that a number of planes and other equipment are understood to be held in storage by the ermy and available for the use of reserve units. This material, which includes besides planes, hangars, autos and trucks, and other equipment needed for a unit, may be released after July 1, it As understood. A reserve unit at Indianapolis already has been equipped with army

V planes. Richmond, on the direct route

uciwccu LJcly Lull auu luuittuayuiia, i tx j center of a large territory which may be expected to support the unit, and also located on the most favored line for a transcontinental air mail service, should have little difficulty, once an organization is formed, in getting

named as the location of a reserve air

unit, it is thought, and securing the four planes and other equipment of a flight. To Receive Applications Applications for the positions which it is necessary to fill in order to ensure approval of a Richmond unit, will be received by Mr. Showalter at 923 East Main street until July 6. A little over half a hundred men will be needed, and will include the following ratings: one master sergeant, flight chief, eight staff sergeants, crew chiefs, one staff administration sergeant, one staff supply sergeant; sergeant, airplane mechanic; sergeant, engine mechanic; sergeant armorer; general mechanic sergeant; radio ser-

ceanL and mess sergeant; two cor

porals, airplane mechanics; two corporals, airplane engine mechanics;

one armorer corporal and one store

keeper corporal.

Occupations represented among the

privates, with the number of men required for each, are 33 follows: air

plane engine mechanics, five; airplane

riggers, three; armorers, three; three

clerks, two electricians and ignition

experts; one each of blacksmith, cop

persmith, bugler, cabinet worker, car

penter, fabric worker, instrument repair man, metal worker and welder. Three cooks, two radio mechanics and a radio operator; two medical detachment men and 12 privates of miscellaneous service, are also included.

MURRETTE "The Woman He iMarried," a First National attraction starring Anita Stewart, will be the inext attraction at

the Murrette theatre,, where it will be

gin a three-day engagement on Thursday. The production has won considerable praise wherever it has been shown as one of the. most unusual pictures of the year. The picture has an appeal that grips the heart nd wins the sympathy of

the spectator for the heroine, struggling against heavy odds for the sake of the love that fills her heart. Miss

Anita Stewart gives the role of the artists' model an interpretation that characterizes her as orra of the great screen actresses, and the supporting cast is fully adequate. Fred Niblo, the creator of "The Three Musketeers,' directed "The Woman He Married," and to his genius is due the clever handling of the story and the skill displayed in making it flawless. Miss Stewart plays the part of -Natalie Lane, a beautiful model, who repulses the Advances of Byrne Travers,

a famous artist, to whom all pretty

women appeal. She marries Roderick Warren, son of a steel magnate. Both love each other passionately, but w?hen

Roderick s father tries to get his. son to give up his wife, on the plea that she is below his station in life, the girl determines to fight for his love. The manner in which she overcomes all odds, and in the end thwarts her father-in-law's opposition gives the story a "punch", that isinteresting and thrilling.

MURRAY What's the use of being good if you are accused of sin? What's the use of telling the truth when it is believed to be false? Why is one given life if it is to be ruled and dominated by another? Ask these questions of Marvin Queed

"The Sin of Martha Queed," a May

flower production presented through

Associated Exhibitors, will be shown.
