There wasn't anything the matter with those cigars. I took some bands, dressed them up, and they sold all right.

I once stripped the bands off a

popularly named cigar and left besida them a box of the same named cigars with the hands on. The banded box sold empty in due time and the bandless box was not touched. I put back the bands and the cigars sold all

right. "Cigar bands cost money and I could save a dollar a thousand and, in some cases, more, by selling cigars without them, but they won't sell. The same gentlemen who kick against bands kick when they don't get them."
