OFFICIALS, FRIENDS PAY LAST RESPECTS TO LILLIAN RUSSELL (By- Associated Press) PITTSBURGH, June 8. Friends from officialdom, from the profession which carried her to the height of her operatic glory, and from the walks of life into which her various well directed interests carried her in later years, will today pay their last respects to Lillian Russell Moore, wife of A. P. Moore, Pittsburgh publisher. The announcement of her death on Tuesday morning struck deep into the hearts of those who had known her down " through the years during which she was heralded as "Queen of American opera," and hundreds of sympathetic messages have been received at the home as well as many beautiful floral tokens. The funeral at which Pittsburgh friends and admirers from all over the country will gather in farewell tribute will take place in Trinity Episcopal church at 2:30 o'clock. A private service will be conducted at the home previously, when members of the family and a few of those most closely associated in friendship with the deceased will look for the last time upon the features of the woman whose beauty and talent was admire-J the world over. The casket will be closed finally before its journeyto the church and only memories will remain to those who gather there. Rev. Dr Edward S. Travers, rector of the church, will officiate at both services. Silent Sentinel. Silent sentinels, a detachment of United States marines has stood guard at the death room in the Moore home since their arrival from Washington under orders from Assistant Secretary of the Navy Roosevelt. They are watching over a dead comrade, for such she was by official warrant dur
ing the World war, when she held the rating of Gunnery Sergeant. And when their vigil has ended they will be the body guard on the march to the
fhurch and thence to the cemetery There the survivors of the Tenth Field . artillery will escort the cortege from the gates to the cemetery where Mrs.
Moore's body will find a resting place until a mausoleum can be erected. A firing squad from the American Le
gion whose ranks the distinguished woman graced by her membership will render the farewell salute. , Although a request that no floral tributes be sent to the home had been made, hundreds of wreaths from persons prominent in official and professional walks of life, were received. One of these was from the White House. This was placed on the foot of the couch on which Mrs. Moore's body lies. - Others Who Contribute. Others who contributed floral offerings were United States Senator Media McCormick, Attorney General Harry M. Daugherty, Governor and Mrs. William C. Sproul, Mr. and Mrs. J. Ogden Armour, Mr. and Mrs. Gifford Pinchot, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard G. Wood, Congressman Stephen Porter; Mrs. Edith Kermit Roosevelt and other persons well known in social and theatrical circles. Organizations also forwarded their tributes, military, professional and social. Hundreds of additional telegrams of condolences were also received. Among the senders were United States Senator William M. Calder, Secretary of War Weeks. Denial Frohman, Secretary of Internal Affairs James F. Woodward, Charles M. Schwab, Mrs. Tony Pastor and many actors, actresses and persons otherwise acquainted with the noted woman.

(By Associated Press) HAZELTON, Pa., June 8. Arrangements were being made today for a renewal of the wage negotiations of the anthracite coal operators and representatives of the miners, recently suspended in New York when the mine workers' sub-committee found "objecteble" the. operators' proposal for an arbitration commission to be appointed by President Harding.. The general scale committee has offered a counter proposal as drafted by the sub-committee, which will be submitted to the operators . in New York probably next Tuesday. The proposal will embody an offer to continue the negotiations on the basis of the 19 demands as drafted by the tri-district convention at Shamokin last year. These include improvement in work-1 ing conditions, a 'universal eight-hour day and complete recognition of the union, including the establishment of the check-off system. It is understood the committee made a slight modification in the wage demands, the request for a 20 per cent increase having been dropped and the scale of the Wilson commission award made the basis for negotiations upward. , Pending resumption of the negotiations, preparations are being made for a referendum vote from the rank and file of the union empowering the scale
