Richmond's postoffice sold more Treasury Savings securities during the month of March than did the Indianapolis office, according to word received here Wednesday, and Indiana is second in sales of the five states In this federal district. During the month of March Richmond sold $28,595 worth of the securities, and Indianapolis sold $23,708. Only one city in 'the district with a population of between 20,000 and 30,t00 people out-sold Richmond; that was Burlington, Iowa. Burlington sold $30140 during March. Local officials point with pride to the showing made by the local office, and also to ..the state sales report. Illinois sold $833,214 to Indiana's $709,316 but it is pointed put:that Chicago is a big factor in the Illinois sales. This city alone sold $285,370 worth of 'he certificates.

Six first class cities in the federal district in which Richmond is located,; raised more than $1 per capita through the government security sales. Richmond is one of the six, having sold $1.06 per capita. Will B Larger Federal District Director W. B. Bosworth, in a letter to Postmaster C. B. Beck, writes: "March was a recordbreaking month. April sales will be still larger. Why? Because those securities now offer a. higher, yield than tiny other United States government security. The yield of Liberty bonds at present market prices ranges from 3'fc to 4'4 per cent. The ; yield on bonds of the United States Steel corporation is now less than 5 per cent, and they are not exempt. , "All of which means that interest rates are coming down steadily. Treasury Saving Certificates at their present selling prices have suddenly jumped to the top of the list of attractive

investments. How long will these filing prices remain in effect? No

one knows. The treasury department's official circular states, 'until further notice.' "

NAMES SCHOOL FOR BOSSE

city school board of Evansville has decided to name the East Side high echool that will be erected this year in honov of the late Benjamin Bosse, mayor of Evansville, who died April 4. The building of this school will mean three high schools in all for Evansville. .

show for the middle-west, the first to be held In this part of the country,

opened here today and will contitiue during the coming week.- In addition to delegations from Detroit and other

Michigan cities, groups representing

radio clubs in Ohio. Indiana, Illinois, New York and Wisconsin had an

Lady Astor, native of Virginia, citizen of Great Britain and tne first woman elected to membership in the house of commons, was a passenger on the liner Olympic which arrived here today. A noble gathering of American women awaited her. Some went to the pier because they had known Lady Astor in Virginia when she was Nanny Langhorne, "one of five pretty Langhorne sisters." Others composed an official welcoming committee of C9 selected by the League of Women Voters ' at whose pan-American conference, opening in Baltimore on Thursday, Lady Astor is to take a prominent part. The ripple of greeting over Lady Astor was to be escorted to the home of her sister, Mrs. Charles Dana Gibson, known throughout the world as
