GIRLS IN RANDOLPH ORGANIZED IN CLUBS

WINCHESTER. Ind., April 19. Organization of Randolph county girls into clubs for work in food canning, baking, sewing, health instruction and home-keeping is progressing rapidly through the cooperation of the Bchools and the county agent's office. Already clubs have been formed in the Brinckley, Allen ville and Winchestor communities and Miss Grace King of Purdue, state girls' club leader of economics extension work, spent Wednesday and Thursday of last week completing organization in Randolph county. " - " First place in girls' vlub work last year was taken by the Jackson township girls under leadership of Miss Hettie Alamonrode, the home economics teacher. Miss Helen Garringer will supervise the Winchester community club this year and Miss Ruby Pursley will have charge of the Green township girls' club.

DROP MOVE TO EXTRACT OIL FROM SOY BEANS COLUMBUS. April 19. A movement started here some time ago for the extraction of oil and meal from soy beans, which it was believed would greatly increase the production of soy beans and open a better market for them in Bartholomew and adjoin

ing counties, has been abandoned for!

the present at least. ' The reason is that the farmers of the county already have planned their acreage of soy beans and the acreage planned would not suffice for consummation of the movement.

"BOBBED HAIR" Hero by name, and heroine by nature! For it certainly took a heroine to stand for nearly two hours on the rock beach at 4 ocloclr. of a December morning, with a high-powered wind machine pushing the chilly atmosphere through every chink and crevice of a thin Grecian smock, her only outer garment. That is what Wanda Hawley. star in Realart Pictures did for scenes of "Bobbed Hair," the amusing picture which will open at the Washington theatre tomorrow in which she plays the mythical character

the torch to guide her faithful Leander through the turbulent, waters of the Hellespont. How about poor Leander in the icy water, you ask? Well, that is another story, about which you can ask William Boyd, her leading man! ' In "Bobbed Hair" Mr. Boyd has his first leading role in Realart Pictures, though for some time past he has played important parts in Paramount pictures, notably "The Jucklins." William P. Carlton, last seen as leading man in "Morals" with May McAvoy, has the role 'of Paul Lamont, the philandering futurist poet. Leigh Wyant, whose last engagement was I

witn Miss Hawley in "Too Much Wife," plays Zoe Dean, a member of the artistic colony, and other "neophytes" of the colony are played by Jane Starr and Margaret Vilmore. BIG TOP ADVANCES John Robinson's circus, the oldest, the biggest and the best now on it3 ninety-ninth annual tour of the North American continent will pay a visit to this territory in the very near future, being scheduled to appear in Richmond on Friday, April 28. The mention of the John Robinson's circus arouses the light of fond memories in the eyes somewhat dimmed by advancing years, as it is the show of our grandfathers, and fathers and is the oldest white tent organization on the face of the globe. With more elephants, more jungle beasts, more clowns, more spangled folk, a three-ring two-stage performance and a longer parade so read the posters the old favorite, in new garb and with an entirely new offering of arenic and aerial displays will be with us soon. Throughout the city and adjacent towns and countryside, gay posters meet the eye for the one hundred agents and billers have done their work well. All is arranged for the gala day's activities under the big top railroad accommodations for the

iuuk trains supplies ror over one

thousand people, five hundred horses and the big menagerie and the thousand and one details that go into trail blazing for arrival, parade and performances. - Few people realize the work that must be done before the twelve acres of canvass that houses the John Robinson circus each day is hoisted Into the air. For five weeks before the day of exhibition men are constantly passing through the city general agents, railroad contractors, local contracting agents, special agents, advertising, car agents, brigade agents, billers, lithographers, bannermen, press agents and twenty-four hour men. Each has a certain task to do, and the result of their labors it that the show moves into the town and onto the circus lot without a hitch. MURRETTE If Penrod had been at the San Francisco earthquake his imaginative mind would have announced the destruction 'of all America. The proneness to exaggeration on the part of youthful minds furnishes one of the most amusing incidents in 'Penrod," Marshall Neilan's picturization of Booth Tarkington's famous characters, which is the First National attraction at the Murrette theatre now. Penrod goes to a theatre to see a show that Is a preachment against the curse of drink. It affects his mind to such an extent that when anj aunt and cousin come to visit the Schofields, Penrod promptly con-j ceives the idea that they have been! driven away from home by the al-j

cononc weaknesses of his aunt's husband. Quite willing to create a sensation he spreads this report all over town and raises particular havoc with the Schofield's social standing. Freckles Barry in the title role gives a delightful portrayal of the inimitablo character who blends all his youthful escapades into one coherent story in this film version. RUSS DIZZY SYSTEM QF FINANCES BRINGS STATE BANK TROUBLE

(By Associated Press MOSCOW, April 19. Russia's dizzy financial system has brought trouble to the new State bank, established a few months ago to stabilize finances and promote industry. v The bank began lending money at 12 per cent a month, a rate which even an American loan shark might blush to ask, but extremely low in consideration of private rates prevailing here. When this money was lent, however, the exchange rate was about 200,000 rubles to the dollar. Recently,- while officially only about half that amount, from 950,000 to 1,000,000 rubles to the dollar, have been offered by private brokers and prices have been rising accordingly. When the earlv loans were rennfil

the bank found itself in the position of receiving in actual purchasing values from a quarter to a half of what it lent out. According to the newsDaner. Eco

nomic Life, the bank now proposes to charge SO per cent per month interest on loans and to nav four

month on deposits. The commissariat of finance, to relieve tho Ritimtir,n Tiaa

decided to grant the bank additional funds for an increase in capital. Its original paper allotment was 3,000,000,000,000 rubles.

The bank has established Tinmhop

of new branches and is widening its operations. It is now allowed to accept and transfer sums in foreign cur-

tency to points abroad for private per

sons, provided these sums are spent, for goods to be imported to Russia. ,
