(By Associated Press) ; LAFAYETTE, Ind., April 15. Aviation now Is inciuded among the regular subjects taught at Purdue university and It is attracting the interest of many engineering students because of the new field which this phase of engineering opens to them. Aero-dynamlcs have been taught for thtf last two years by M. L. Thornburg

of the mechanical enginerlng staff, the course having been a non-credit ar

rangement, which students might take

if they were interested. However, the demand for it has been so great it

now is one of the elective courses for

senior mechanical engineering stu

dents and full credit toward a degree

is given for the work.

Two hours of class work and tx

hours of design are given in the course for two full semesters, or an entire school year. The first semester

is devoted to a study of construction, operation and characteristics of aviation inglnes. both rotary and stationary, with the advantages of both studied by demonstrations on both theoretical and practical problems, Kach student designs an engine suited for a particular phase of aviation. Study Flight Theory The second semester classes study 1 lie theory of flight, meterology, and various instruments used in practical service. - Detailed studies are made of present aircraft and the probable de

velopment, in the future. The students then must "design a complete plane or airship to fit the motor developed during the first semester. " Present equipment for this course at the university consists of one plane; a nln,e cylinder LeRone Rotary engine and a 12 cylinder Liberty, developed during the war. Experiments also are hftng conducted with various types of automobile engines and the. results applied to aviation conditions. - Fut a re plans call for a large engine fating plant and wind tunnel. The engine testing plant will be large enough to handle any size motor and special equipment . also called for which will enable tests to be made on rotary motors. - Several members of the senior class who are taking this work are working ut their graduation thesis on some phase of their aviation studies, confining their efforts so far, however, to engine tests.

No Slack Movements The clock work regularity with which the crowds in the tabernacle will be handled particularly those who come down front to hit the trail, insures that there will be no slack moments in the whole evening, and that nothing will dTag. The plans call for one secretary for every five converts, and Fred Rapp promises that if one secretary effectively takes care of five trail hitters In the time given, that he will have all that he can do. One man who had received an as

he could take all of the tasks up in succession, as the time for each task came.
