MAYOR ASKS CITIZENS o TO ASSIST IN SAFETY AND CLEAN-UP WEEKS Proclamations calling for the observance of safety week and clean-up week, were Issued by Mayor Lawrence Handley Wednesday. The "eafety week" campaign is to be put on under the auspices of the Wayne County AutQmotive Dealers' association, with the co-operation of the Junior Red Cross and the Boy Scouts. It is to be a campaign of education, to insure that school children of the city are thoroughly acquainted with the traffic laws, and are trained to observe these rules. Card3 giving traffic rules and cau

tioning the children to observe all i proper precaution, have been printed and are ready for distribution among the school pupils. According to present plans the Boy Scouts are to serve as "traffic officers" on corners in the vicinity of the schools, during rush hours, and they will see that the children are conducted across the street with due eafety. Mayor's Proclamation The proclamation issued by Mayor Handley Wednesday follows: "The Wayne County Automotive Trade Association has Instituted a campaign to impress upon the mlnda of children and the general public the necessity of taking every precaution to prevent accidents when crossing streets. The Boy Scouts and the Junior Red Cross will aid in this commendable work, and the week of April 17 has

been designated "Safety Week." "The official city heartily approves this movement and requests that all citizens assist and co-operate in every Owav to promote the safety of children on the streets." MURRAY While "Rip Van Winkle,- Ward Lascelle's splendid screen version of Washington Irvlng's immortal classic, which, released by Hodkinson, is being shown at the Murray theatre, was in the course of construction, scores of visitors thronged Mr. Lascelle's studio to watch Thomas Jefferson work. On ever so many occasions ladies of middle age approached Mr. Jefferson while he was resting between scenes, and said: "My. I thought you were Joe Jefferson. You look just like him. Did you know him?" Whereat Jefferson had to admit that he knew him slightly for the world-famous "Joe" Jefferson was his father! Joe Jefferson achieved his greatest triumph in the playing of "Rip Van Winkle" upon the speaking stage. It Is altogether in keeping with the trend of the times that his son should perpetuate the family name and fame by a splendid rendition of the identical role upon the silver sheet. MURRETTE More power to Florence Vidor and the combination that produced "Woman, Wake Up!" More pictures like this Associated Exhibitors feature, shown yesterday at the Murrette theatre and remaining the rest of the week, and there would be no need for censorship; no howling cry for "better films." "Woman, Wake Up!" Is not merely "better" but best! It is the best, thing Florence Vidor has done, and that's a broad statement. As a study of romance after marriage, it rivals Frank Craven's "The First Year," that has amused New York theatre audiences for two years. Marcus Harrison, the director, has told the story against a beautiful background. The outdoor scenery ranges from mountain woods and lakes, to ' the open country, a fog at sea and Cat alina Island. A marvelously staged airplane crash and fire is one of the thrills. A noteworthy item is the manner in which interior sets match the exteriors. For instance, a house is mission style inside as well as out. And j vumvi, uuimuD ia to ujiiijue its 111side. RICHMOND The malil stick and pallette are no strangers to Wallace Reid and he is quite at home in his role of an impecunious artist in "Rent Free," his new paramount picture which is now playing at the Richmond theatre. Mr. J Keid used to do quite a bit of this sort of thing though hi3 specialty was cartoon work. Mr. Reid smiled somewhat reminlscently as he dabbed at the colors on his pallette. "It's a good thing," he observed, "that artists like attic rooms, for in many cases they have to use them! because they are cheapest. It seems funny that art is such a tough' game and yet pays such splendid dividends when once the artist has arrived. Yet the life of the studios the artists' studios, I mean is most fascinating." In the picture, which is by Mann Careless Shampooing Spoils the Hair Soap should be used very carefully, if you want to keep your hair looking its best. Most soaps and prepared shampoos contain too much alkili. This dries the scalp, makes the hair brittle, and ruins it. The best thing for steady use Is Mulsified cocoanut oil shampoo (which is pure and sreaseless), and is better than anything else you can use. Two or three tea?poonsful of Mulsified will cleanse the hair and scalp thoroughly. Simply moisten the ha;r with water and rub it in. It makes an abundance of rich creamy lather, which rinses out easily, removing every particle of dust, dirt, dandru'f and excessive oil. The hair dries quickly and evenly, and it leaves the scalp soft and the hair fine and silkv, bright lustrous, fluffy and easy to manage. You can get Mulslfied cocoanut oil shampoo at any pharmacy, It's very cheap, and a few ounces will supply every member of the family for months. Be sure your druggist gives you Mulsified. Page and Izola Forrester Page, with an adaption by Elmer Rice, Mr. Reld is an impecunious artist who takes to the roof tops because he can't pay any rent. He goes down an open scuttle ana takes possession of an empty home. Later he meets the girl who has lived there with her father and stepmother till the former's death. The will disowns her in favor of the stepmother and she is left to shift for herself. But the artist finds a secret message which proves there is a later will in favor of the girl and helps her to attain her rights and wins her love. This charming story makes a rollicking comedy-drama. Lila Lee is the girl. The support is quite adequate. After Ten Years By MARICN RUBINCAM REVOLT Chapter 27 But it was little use for Millie and Patty to evade this problem which had suddenly come before them. They were very fond of each other, the most complete confidence had always existed between them. And too, there is something in the habit nf rrmficience, Millio was nine vears older. ! but Patty had always taken her wor-j ries to her for help and in return, Millie had told her younger sister thoughts and ambitions and hones that she would not have told pvpii the devoted Cora. So, as. though they had agreed on it, they turned into Millie's house on the way back, and went to Millie's bedroom. It was the most private place m tne nouse Bridget could overhear in the sitting room, and the porch was 1 near the street Of course tkere was a certain amount of fencing conversationally. Then Millie came out with it "You're in love with Paul!" Ana lJatty felt Elad to sav "Yes." For she had been idealizing Paul until sue uau seu mm iar apart trom every otner man. She felt, recently, that even to have the discernment necessary to recognize his superiority to other men, was totbe a little different, a little better, tllan other women.
