gave the president positive assurance that the movement for a naval force

l larger than the one proposed by the

all-powerful appropriations committee is steadily gaining ground and that he believed the proposed amendment

j calling for 86,000 men would be

adopted. Just as soon as the governments of Great Britain, France, Italy and Japan have ratified the naval limitation treaty, congress will enact the neces

sary legislation for the reduction of American naval armament in accordance with the provisions of the treaty.

No one will be surprised if,

this legislation is taken up, there Is

a drive on the part of the pacifist group, operating under the cloak of economy, to authorize a naval reduction in excess of what is required by the treaty. It is known that President Harding will' oppose any such action. Plan Scrapping Ships Plans are now being shaped for the scrapping of 17 of the pre-dread-naught classes of battleships and for 13 super-dreadnaughts and battle cruisers now under construction. While no official announcement has been made in regard to this matter, it is understood that there will be no sinking of the craft to be destroyed, unless a few of them should be used for targets. It is the plan of the navy department to have the ships, broken up for the salvage of materials in them. Whether this work will be undertaken in government yards or whether it is the purpose of the government to sell the vessels outright to wrecking companies has not been indicated. Two of the building battle cruisers are to be converted into aircraft car

riers.

That is the thought so often expressed in letters recommending Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound. These women know what they have suffered, they describe their symptoms and state how they were finally made well. Just plain statements, but they want other women to be helped. Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound is a medicine made from medicinal roots and herbs, and without drugs, to relieve the sickness women so often have, which is indicated by backache, weak feelings, nervousness, and no ambition to get anything done or to go anywhere. It has helped many women. Why not try it?. Advertisement.

GRAY HAIR DARK It's Grandmother's Recipe to

: Bring Back Color and Lustre to Hair.

That beautiful,' even shade of dark,

glossy hair can only be had by brewing a mixture of Sage Tea and Sulphur. Your hair is your charm. It makes or mars the face. When it fades, turns gray or streaked, just an application or two of Sage and Sulphur enhances its appearance a hundredfold. - Don't bother to prepare the mixture; you can get this famous old recipe Improved by the addition of other in

gredients at a small cost, all ready for i use. It is called Wyeth's Sage and! Sulphur Compound. This can always j be depended upon to bring back the j natural color and lustre of your hair. I Everybody uses "Wyeth's Sage and ; Sulphur Compound now because it j

darkens so naturally and evenly that nobody can tell it has been applied. You simply dampen a sponge or soft brush with it and draw this through the hair, taking one small strand at a time; by morning the gray ha?r has disappeared, and after another application it becomes beautifully dark and anjears glossy and lustrous.
