GRACE CHURCH DEBT REDUCED TO $24,000 IS QUARTERLY REPORT - One -of the outstanding results reported at the quarterly conference of Grace- M. E. church Thursday night was the fact that the debt of the church, J59.000, has been reduced to $24,000 during the period of slightly over three years. This achievement is one of the things which the Grace
Claa leaders f S. W. Jackson, T..A. the pastor Dr. Somerville Light, district superintendent, presided over the meeting and declared that the enrollment -of the Grace M. E. Sunday school was the second, largest in the city and' that the financial condition was of the best. Th3 centenary fund was found to amount to $4,000 per year and. this amount has heretofore been paid up in full each year. The present prospects are that the centenary report will be sent in full to the Elkhart conference on April 5 to 11. ; Membership irt the church was found to be around 800 and approximately one-half of this membership was found to have been obtained during the present pastorate of Rev. A. H. Backus. Increase Pastor's Salary - The salary of Rev. Backus was increased $200 in addition to his yearly amount, in appreciation of his work. Special honor was paid to Dr. Somerville Light for having the distinction of being in service as the super
intendent of one district- longer than
