NOT PLESIOSAURUS BUT GLYPTODON OR t MEGATHERIUM, REPORT

fBy Associated Presat BUENOS AIRES, March 16. It was not a plesiosaurus that was seen swimming in an Andean lake recently, but a descendant either of the horny plated glyptodon, or other the Megatherium in the opinion of Professor Onelli, dt rector of the Buenos Aires zoo. "Plesiosaurus is a pseudonym the newspapers have given it and which has stuck," he said, "but I believe it Is a huge animal of the edentate family of which ancient remains, not fossil mark you, were found in Patagonia in 1897, and one of which was fired upon and hit by the explorer Ramon Lista in 1890, without hurting it." He explained that while the plesiosaurus dated back ten million years the edentates such as glyptodon and megatherium belonged to the quaternary era of only a million years ago. He said that from 1890 to the present time there had been twelve places in Patagonia between latitudes 88 and 52 at which mysterious creatures were reported to have been seen. These he believes constitute a few survivors of the genus which existed in the pleistocenj period. Postpone Start Prof Onelli said he had been obliged to postpone the start of the expedition for. another week as a total of 7,000 pesos was needed, of which 3.000 were yet lacking. While a motion picture concern had offered to pay the entire expenses of the expedition in return for the xexclusive right to film the capture of the animal. Professor Onelli preferred it to be financed by popular subscription. He exhibited more than a hundred letters from persons desiring to join the expedition. These included one who recommended himself as a hunter for Spanish royalty and another who had Invented a new type of dynamite with which to blow up the monster. The glyptodon was a creature resembling the armadillo and which attained the size of an ox. It had strong limbs with short, broad feet. The megatherium was a gigantic, f loth-like edentate from 18 to 20 feet in length. It had a short neck, heavy body and powerful tail and hind legs. With its strong prehensile tongue It tore from trees and shrubs the leaves and twigs upon which it subsisted. Radio Club Discusses Transmission Problem A warm discussion over the respective merits and demerits of transmission by local continuous wave sets during evening hours was held at the regular meeting of the DX Radio club in the high school Wednesday night. A vote as to whether interference was caused by such transmission showed a very close decision, but it was later pointed out that a change in hours would require a constitutional change which could not be made before next meeting. The matter was therefore left "in the air" until the next meeting. A discussion on "Power for Vacuum Tubes" was given by Harold Cutler, of West Richmond. About 30 members of the club attended the meeting. The Easter lily is a comparatively new thing in Christendom. It was introduced from Japan about fifty years ago.

CIRCUS MYSTERY STILL IS UNSOLVED (By Associated Press) RIVERSIDE, N. J., March 16 Mys tery in the slaying of John T. Brunen, circus proprietor, shot to death in his home last Friday night, was apparently far from solution today. . County detective Ellis Parker de clared that publication of the letter said to have been written by Brunen to his sister, Mrsl Elizabeth Jaesche, of Cary, 111., in which he said he was being "framed in his own household," and that he feared for his life had greatly, hindered, the . investigation. They would not be justified in making arrests at the present time on the strength of that letter, said Parker. Any one can write a letter accusing some one of a crime, but to prove that a certain person did commit the crime is another matter. "We know positively that Mrs. Brun en did not fire the shot. We want to arrest the man who actually did the killing and then other arrests might follow. He is the man we are after and not Mrs. Brunen." Miss Hazel Parkstrom,' the 16-year-old daughter of Brunen. said that her father undoubtedly had written the letter in a fit of anger. "My father did not know what he was writing when ho wrote that letter, she said. "Father was subject to fits of anger and in one of these he wrote that letter to my aunt. My stepmother never tried to lead me astray and also I know right from wrong." Mrs. Brunen also These sold 718 Main St.

denied the allegations contained in the letter. The authorities today were still trying to locate George T. Werner, a former chef at the winter quarters of Brunen's circus at Williamstown, N. Y., who was discharged several weeks ago. He is not suspected of any connection with the killing. Detective Parker said, but it is believed that he may have information that would aid in the Investigation. Parker made it plain that 'Werner would not be ar restee.. I merely want to question him," he said. LAKE'S DRUG STORE SOLD TO DERBYSHIRE EATON, Ohio, March 16.
