Gary has - fought in Richmond before and local fans know of his ability inside the ropes. Madden comes highly recommended and is said to be a boy who can uphold his end of the game with any of them at 133 pounds. Willie Estes of Eaton ought to please with his boxing. Estes slings many gloves while in the ring and no doubt Eddie Snyder will have a good job on his hand to hold up his end. Snyder is a brother of Mutt Snyder, thp Dayton bantamweight. baseball was played In the league last year and the competition was very keen throughout the entire season. Practically every good ball player in the city was included in the league. The rules this year probably will ,be somewhat modified, as plans are being made to have a Saturday afternoon league formed this year. To Discuss League The Saturday afternoon league has been disorganized for the past two
years and their being an abundance of good material in the city there is no
reason whatsoever that the league
should not be reorganized this season. This matter will be discussed with the manufacturers soon, and efforts will be made to get the league started as early as possible. Soft ball artists of the city again will have a chance to show tVir wares as the Commercial soft ball league again will beorganized. Last
year this was one of the most enthusiastic leagues in the city, and all the games were played after factory hours on the Atlas playground, on North Tenth street.

BABE RUTH, SGHANG, OFF FOR ARKANSAS
NEW YORK. March 9. Babe Ruth and Wally Schang, the last Yankea players to be linedup for the coming baseball season, today left Hot Springs, Ark., for New Orleans to join Manager Huggins and the remainder of his spring training squad. The arrival of a teleexam by Ruth nd tho swatting of the ball by Meusel reminded the manager of the Yanks yeserday, that those two players would be out of the game for a few days at the start of the season, and he turned his attention to sbme of his recruits. Among them are Hink?y Haines and Glenn Kllllnger, Pennsylvania State youngsters, who are showins up well. In the Giants camp at San Antonio. Texas, John McGraw has ordered a rest after having driven his squad Ft n fast pace for a week. He still is giving unusual attention to the youngsters. Shinners, the former Indianapolis ball hawks extraordinary; Ike Boone from New Orleans, slugger, and Edwin Hale, the Mississippi college youth, have been under the manager'

to be coming back into its own In the schools. Practically every high school in this section is planning a baseball team and many have had their first call and are working out daily.
Richmond will be in the field this
year and should turn out one of the
best teams in this district. If enough interest is aroused in the baseball
world of the high school there is no

Track will also be a part of the high school spring program of athletics, and the first call for the candidates probably will be made within a few days. There are many men in the high school that could be developed into first-class track men that would put Richmond among the leaders in the sport. Tennis Promising Tennis promises to be one of the leading sports again this season and more people are taking up the game with every year.
