, . So declared Charles Schwab,
town, Ohio, a few days ago. But he pointed to the danger in an accelerated resumption, fearing that if it comes too quickly, we will forget the lesson of economy which the depression taught. . After saying that the government must keep its hands off the ships and railroads, if they are to be successful, and insisting, "the less legislation the better," Mr. Schwab praised the attitude of labor dunnghe"readjustment'and said railroad and mining costs must be reduced before we can obtain permanent prosperity. His views are accepted with a degree of finality in all parts of the country, because he is an outstanding figure in the industrial development of. the country, and has brought, to the steel industry high ideals pertaining to both the obligations of the owners and the workers. In his speech, Mr. Schwab, as he often does, departed from his subject long enough to make a few common sense remarks and to encourage the practice of thrift as a basis for happiness in the home and in the business world. "Women form the greatest economic factor in

how to spend it. K "if e is years di. can have everything she desires, but the greatest pleasure of her life is taking care of her home.
It should be so with every woman. The home life should be the biggest thing in her life. I don't think that will be popular with the women, but if women would realize that home positions are the greatest thing in the world they would go to them
quicker." What he said in this respect of the duty of the women of the nation holds true in no less degree of the men also. Fathers cannot rear good boys unless they make their homes the radiating center of spiritual qualities. Good boys thrive in wholesome atmosphere. Nothing can take the place of the home. Parents who believe that organizations, formed for the purpose of promoting the welfare of the youth, can do this work for them, deceive themselves most woefully, and in time learn their mistake in heartaches and regrets. And so, when Mr. Schwab points out that business has turned the corner he sapiently implies that not the least pari of making conditions better is more attention to home life where the very foundation of all success must be laid. Energetic fathers and mothers who look upon the rearing of their children as a mighty important business project are helping in readjusting the country and elevating it to a higher plane: They are training the future Schwabs and Edisons, and rearing the generation that can carry forward the work which this generation "has begun.

TODAY'S TALK By Georfle Matthew Adams, Author of "You Can." "Take It," "Up" ' SEE VICTORY All defeats are not final ones. Sheridan It was who turned defeat into victory merely by riding upon the field, facing his demoralized army, and with matchless magnetism crying out: "Turn, boys, turn we're going back!" In a competitive match, neither man knows the limits of the other. It is your business to see victory and then to work your way to it. I have recently been reading the short biographies of successful men, and this is what I have noticed as a thread running through the accounts of them all: Each man kept seeing his success something bigger all the time. And what you see, others will believe that you see and they will be glad to follow your leadership. The winning salesman knows that he must make his prospective customer see exactly what he has seen and felt in the goods he has to sell. When this i3 accomplished, the sale is made. See victory in the very day as you open your eyes upon it when arising. Then as you enter into the serious tasks of your life, you are sure to get the most out of all your plans. But never give up. Keep preparing. Keep believing that you will win. Keep KNOWING that you cannot fail. Sg victory! If things look dark, don't you look dark. Never let the other fellow get the idea that you MIGHT give up. Stick to your guns. Learn to load and re-load. ACT success. Handicapped? ' Who could have been more handicapped than Helen Keller who was born blind, dumb and deaf? And yet this determined girl graduated with honors from a great college and has become one of the most useful women of her time. First SEE victory then go get it!

No. Ill Magnetized Paper A large piece of thin paper Is placed on the palm of the hand. The hand is . . J .1 .JV.. . jaraea over aim w the palm. The trick is accomplished by laying the paper flat on the tabl and rubbing It with the palm a number of times. The friction generates electricity and causes the paper to adhere to the hand. If the paper starts to fall a downward motion of the hand will keep it in piace. Another way of doing the trick Is to moisten the palm vr slightly at the base of the forefic.er. This will make the paper stick and will not be noticeable after the nbeet is taken from the hand. Ceattriffct lit, tv Puilie ledger Company THE FORUM Boston, Ind., R. R. No. 1. March 4, 1922. Rippling Rhymes By Walt Mason AT HOME When evening, balmy time of peace, succeeds the busy day, I sometimes take my aunt and niece to see a moral play. More often, though, we stay at home, and, while the women sew, I read aloud a helpful pome or tale by j E. P. Roe. The evening is a thing of I charm, a boon to dames and men; at home we're snug and safe from harm, and go to roost at ten. And in the streets, throughout the night, the roisterers proceed; they make the solemn hours a fright, the way they I die and bleed. Red murder stalks J along the slums, assassins slug and ! slay, and in the dawn the crowner j comes, and loads men in a dray. The I victims of the knife and gun might I years of comfort know, if they at home would look for fun, and read the ', works of Roe. Back numbers like my i niece and aunt will stay at home with I me, but nearly all the young one3 pant ; sone midnight larks to see. But to the street that j roars and glares the wise youth does not go; he seats himself in two arm chairs and reads some books by Roe.
