MIXED SALE OF HOGS BRINGS AVERAGE OF $38.50 FORUNDERHILL By WILLIAM R. SANBOR A mixed sale of hogs was held at the Frank Un.derb.ill place, Tuesday. By "mixed" sale we mean that two kinds of pure-breds were put up, Duroca and Polands, each eligible to register and each representative of some of the best blood of the breed. On top of the pure-bred sows and gilts came an offering of more than 100 feeders, k.fall pigs of various weights. " Mr. Underbill printed no catalog, nor did he advertise In the swine journals. He was out to Bell good hogs to his neighbors at prices they could , afford to pay. The hogs were on sale In the tent, 25 Polands and 28 Durocs, each coming to the front of the auction stand, one at a time for separate sale. All the gilts were bred and immuned. Jesse Bird was the largest buyer. He is recorded on the sale sheets as having picked out 10 head at from $34 to $37. early in the sale. Ross Bright

selected a couple at $44 each, as also did Henry Slagle. Frank Taylor was a liberal buyer. Harry Cloud, Irvin Starbuck, Eli Dean and Ben George also figured on the sales sheets. The fall pigs sold according to weight, some going as high as $15. The bred gilts and sows brought an average of $38.50. Mr. Underhill 6ays be had a good sale and made a little money. The outlook is that the buyers who took every animal on offer will also make 6ome money. The sale was conducted by Hindman and Weddle; Harry Gilbert made the settlements, and the Ladies' Aid of the Friends' church at Green's Fork took care to see that no one went hun gry. The Underhill place lies one and one-half miles east of Green'3 Fork, on the Richmond pike. PERSHING, Ind. Rev. Erhardt of the Evangelistical church Is 111 at his home....
