HUNT IS APPOINTED $ TO INVESTIGATE TAX VALUATIONS OF LAND
The choice of Everett Hunt, Wayne county farm bureau president, as chairman of the eastern Indiana district for investigation of tax assessment land valuations, was the result of the unusually complete report that Mr. Hunt, representing Wayne county, was able to take to the state tax meeting in Indianapolis Thursday. A county meeting at which representatives of the various townships reported on farm land sales, was held in the courthouse Wednesday. After appointing Mr. Hunt to represent this
county in the state meeting, he was armed with full information regarding the real sale prices of land; statements as to which sales, reported at high figures, were really trades, with inflated values settlor trading purposes; the more recent, unrecorded sales, which give the truest reflection of actual values; and the farms whose value has declined below assessment vajues. So complete and detailed was the Wayne county report, that, although each county was supposed to spend only five minutes In presenting its report, Mr. Hunt was given unanimous consent for a talk several times this length. His appointment as representative for the eastern Indiana district followed. He returned to Indianapolis , Friday morning for another session which will give further consideration to valuation adjustments. Further Investigation A still further investigation in the townships will be needed, the state officials announce, and the Wayne county chairman in co-operation with the county agent, is planning to complete this within the next few ..days. Forms for listing the information lesired, together with directions, will be sent out to all township chairmen, who will be asked to secure the information with the assistance of the farmers' association directors and members. Complete information will enable county and state officials to give each community and each class of property, full justice. Information regarding very recent sales, which are not yet recorded, and thus have not been considered by the state commission, but which are a better reflection of true values, is especially desired.

ACTIVITIES ENGAGING PREBLE FARM BUREAU EATON. Ohio, Feb. 24. Boys' and girls' club work, a dairy feeding school, seed corn testing, and purchase of certified seed potatoes, are activities engaging the attention of the Preble county farm bureau at present. Club work that will interest 200 Preble county boys and girls i3 planned by County Agent E. D. Turner. Food and sewing clubs will be provided for the girls, and sow and litter, Duroc Jersey and Poland China pig clubs for boys and girls. Entertainment features, picnics and tours, with frequent meetings, and liberal premium lists, will be additional attractions of the club wor.k By leaving orders at the Eaton office, certified seed potatoes may be bought in co-operation with the Wayne farm bureau in Indiana. With a view to perfecting a plan cooperative effort, a joint meeting of the four Christian Endeavor societies in Eaton will be held the evening of March 9, in the Christian church. Grange Golden Jubilee. Eaton grange will celebrate the grange golden jubilee in a meeting here March 7, at which, it is expected, the state grange master will be present. All granges in Preble county wi'l be invited to participate in the celebration.
Officers of Pomona Grange To Be Installed Saturday EATON. Ohio, Feb. 24. Installation of officers for the Pomona Grange will be the principal business of the Pomona meeting in Eaton Saturday. Other Preble county granges will be the guests of the Washington grange on that day. Robert Dickinson of Troy will install the new officers. The new Pomona drill team, of Dixon grange, will succeed the Jackson team at this date.
