The symphony orchestra under the conductorahip ot J. E. Maddy and assisted by James Hamilton, tenor, of Chicago, acnleved further success In a

concert given Monday evening at the Coliseum before an audience of over

800 persons. The playing of the symphony was

marked by richness In tone color and

a wide gradation of light and shade effected by contrasting fortissimo passages with lighter, softer passages. Under Conductor Maddy's baton the orchestra added a subtlety to Its playing as at no time did. it yield its all but maintained a power of reserve. A suite of six alluring and dashing Spanish numbers from Bizet's "Carmen" formed one of the enjoyable groups on the program. Massenet's Angelus from "Scenes Plttoresques " a bit of solemn French music written in more stately measures lacking the fiery ardence of the Spanish tunes followed the "Carmen" suite, offering a contrast which at the same time displayed the orchestra's versatile playing. Probably th most popular selection on the program was "The Blue Danube" waltz by Johann Struass with which the concert closed. James Hamilton, the assisting soloist, scored a well deserved success in his numbers which he sang with discrimination and a direct, sincere manner. His voice is a tenor of richness and power abounding in tonal nuances, and wide in range. His first appearance was with the orchestra (.inking the aria "Celeste Aida" from "Aida." His second number was a group of more popular songs, "Come, Beloved," Handel; "The Blind Ploughman," Clarke; "Puna," McUill, and "The Living God." O'Hara. As an encore he sang a southfin dialect melody, "My Little Banjo."

"I will oversee-all the details of the campaign and will know every cent that is expended in furthering my candidacy and election," she said.
