, ELIMINATE SPEEDING u- OFFENSES IN DETROIT BY HEAVY SENTENCES (By Associated FresO DETROIT, Mich.. Jan. 30 Jail or prison sentences for automobile speeders who endanger the lives of others, with no distinction between truck drivers and millionaires. This is the system that has been put into practice here by Judge C. L. Kartlett, who presides over the traffic . division of Recorder's Court. Judge Bartlett recently sentenced dozens of men convicted of speeding to the Detroit House of Correction. The jail sentences ranged from three to ten days. Fines of from $25 to $100 also were assumed. Judge Bartlett announced his reason for the action was to protect lives of Detroit residents on the streets. Judge Bartlett classes speeders in three divisions, and issues punishment accordingly. Business Men's Class. "The first class is the hurried business man." the court said. "He is an intelligent man who has been found guilty of speeding. He has been derelict in liia duty, it is true, but if the violation of the ordinance with which he is charged is minor and if no accident has resulted I am inclined to be lenient. "The second class is composed of speeders who are ignorant, not vicfous. This class has made no study of traffic rules and regulations arid seems to have no care for human life. "Into the third class falls those persons whom I believe to be insane. They delight in the wanton taking of 0 life. This class leaves its helpless victims lying bleeding in the street and attempts to escape rom the scene of ''rime, For these there is no leniency." injungWisTiled by greenville man GREENVILLE, Ohio, Jan. 30. You Can Bring Back Color and Lustre with Sage Tea and Sulphur. When you darken your hair with Sage Tea and Sulphur, no one can tell, because it's done so naturally, so evenly. Preparing this mixture, though, at home, is mussy and troublesome. At little cost you can buy at any drug store the ready-to-use preparation, improved by the addition of other ingredients, called "Wyeth's Sage and Sulphur Compound." You just dampen a sponge or soft brush with it and draw this through your hair, taking one small strand at a lime. By morning all gray hair disappears, and, after another application or two, your hair becomes beautifully darkened, glossy and luxuriant. j 1 Gray, faded hair, though no disgrace, is a sign of old age, and as we all desire a youthful and attractive appearance, get busy at once with Wyeth'a Sage and Sulphur Compound L. and look years younger. It is Miss Swanson's first independert starring vehicle, and said to be one of the most dramatic stories ever filmed. The picture is said to be one of tbc most colorful imaginable. Milton Sills is leading man and heads an unusually clever supporting cast. MURRETTE. Everyone seems to agree that ne;t to perfection in production, the chief requisite for a perfect motion picture is a real honest-to-goodness story. It is that type of a dramatic tale that David W. Griffith has based his latest photodrama on for United Araists, release, hind this wonderfully dramatic production, "The Love Flower," is showing at the Murrette theatre. Bevan meets the man, Crane, who sent him "up." and Bevan and hia daughter decide to go away and start over again. On their way Bevan is informed of his wife's infidelity, and goes back to prove the charge. Duiing the quarrel, the man in the case is shot. Crane immediately determines it a murder and intercepts the daughter on her w-ay to the boat, but Bevan, coming up from the rear, makes a captive of the detective, until he and his daughter have embarked. They land on a South Sea uncharted island, where Stella meets a young chap on his way to the port from which she and her father had fled. In the knowledge of the mutual attraction which springs up between them, this boy does not understand her terror for him, but yields to her unexplained treaties to go away. Murray Entertainment of the most dramatic and thrilling sort is offered in "After Midnight," the latest Selznick picture starring Conway Tearle, which is the feature at the Murray theatre. "After Midnight" is a stirring tale with most of the action laid in the underworld, and Conway Tearle is seen to splendid advantage in the roles of the two brothers of different character which he plays. The star does fine work as Wallace Phillips, the brother who has been tricked out of nis snare or nis tamer s fortune ny Gordon Phillips, the evil half of the family. Complications arise when Wallace changes place with his brother Gordon so cleverly that even Gordon's beautiful wife is fooled. The thrilling police raid and an exciting fight in Chinatown climaxed by the sudden death of Gordon brings the story to an eventul close with everything ending happily. . Zena Keefe plays opposite the star with all the charm that has won her so many admirers and a eery capable cast includes 6uch names as Macy Harlam, Harry R. Allen and Charlie Fag. The production has been perfectlydirected by Ralph Ince, and, as with all pictures bearing his name, splendid sets, backgrounds and grouping are noticeable throughout the plav. WASHINGTON STOCK "The Sign on the Door," which is being played at the Washington theatre this week by the Be6sey Stock company, is a different type of play. With a cleverly presented prologue the play opens with a back-ground upon which is built the entire structure. A husband's faith in his wife is taxed to the limit in this play. The wife endeavoring to rescue the daughter of her husband from the clutches of a man who has proved undesirable, has thrown herself into a situation which, with great odds against her at first, is straightened out in a timely 'manner and the husband"s faith is restored. Herbert Duffy and Nell Redd take the leading roles in the parts of Mr. and Mrs. Lafe Regan. "Lafe" Regan is the father of Helen Regan who has become infatuated with a man whose reputation is known by the father aifd mother. Mrs. Regan is the second wifeof "Lafe."
