The Theatres RICHMOND One of the most impressive features of "The Sheik," George Melford's latest production for Paramount, now showing at the Richmond theatre, are the many magnificent and spectacular settings in which the various scenes are enacted. These include: A remarkable conception of a public 'ipction of the ancient City of Carthage under Roman rule; a birdseye shot of the City of Biskra, the Monte Carlo of the Algerian Sahara, taken from a minaret with an Arab praying in, the foreground; fifteen actual shots about ihe city of Biskra, especially made for the picture by a representative from l'aramount's London studio; a picturesque African oasis, especially constructed on a desert site near Hollywood; a complete Arabian village the .'tronghold of the bandit chieftain, Omar; and beautiful, exotic interiors, such as the interior of the Sheik's tent, and the desert palace of Ornair. In the Carthage episode, which is a vision in the picture, a very unusual fleet is presented. Agnes Ayres, playing the principal feminine role, is shown as the haughty queen who rules the city under Roman domination. Tellth street, says "My work as a carpenter is hard on the back and kidneys. I suffered from dull backaches with soreness through my loins. I could hardly stoop to pick up my tools. There are broken pillars and crumbling ruins. lishes the haughty, dominant character of the girl, who insists upon taking a journey Into the desert, despite her brother's objections. The role of the sheik is played by Rudoiph Valentino, the popular "Julio" of "The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse." The cast, further includes Lucien Littlefield, Adolphe Menjou, George Waggner, Ruth Miller, Walter Long and F. R. Butler. MURRETTE There is one actress in Hollywood who can not accept all the roles offered her because it would be a physical impossibility. In fact she can not accept more than half of them. The reason is that she is a "type" for which there is a constant demand r that of the haughty society dame. And this talented actress looks the part on the"screen and on the street. She is Kate Lester, and she can next be seen in "The Beautiful Liar," an Associated First National atraction, starring Katherine MacDonald, which opened at the Murrette theatre today for an engagement of three days. In this- pictures she plays the part of Mrs. Van Courtlandt-Van Allystyn, the leader of high society. There is periodical frantic bidding for her services by the directors, for no other actress can play such parts with the natural ability that characterizes Miss Lester's work. "Can Miss Lester be haughty?" repeated a studio attache in Los Angeles recently. "Well, I'll say so. She's so haughty when it comes to playing society dames in pictures that I've seen directors speak politely for the rest of the day; and that's going some." MURRAY Fancy Gray held in the hollow of her pretty white hand the destiny of three hearts. Hers was the power to make two people unhappy at the cost of her own happiness, or to give happiness and herself seek it elsewhere. Fancy Gray is the charming heroine of "The Heart Line," a picturization of Gelett Burgess' famous novel presented at the Murray theatre, with beautiful Lea.h Baird starred. "The Heart Line" is a story of tangled hearts, of a missing boy, of palmi ists, clairvoyants and spiritualists, and medium in communication with the spirit world. The picture makes some startling disclosures of fraudulent spiritualists, and sounds a timely warning, as well as picturing a story that fascinates with its mystery and charms with the beauty of its romance. , Williamsburg Methodists Hold Revival Services WILLIAMSBURG, Ind., Jan. 18. The Williamsburg Methodist church is holding special revival services this week, with meetings every evening, including Saturday. Choral services are provided by the Sunday school classes. With too few vitamines, health is impossible. The result is loss in weight, bad, sickly skins, lack of pep and go-get-em spirit, constipation and indigestion. Thousands are eating three great big meals a day and yet their vitality is starving to death for lack of vitamines. There elements are in practically all foods but are very often destroyed in preparation or cooking. In potatoes, for example, vitamines are close to the skin and are thrown away in paring. Boiling of many
vitamines; frying often destroys others'
and so on until one wonders how they manage to get enough vitamines to keep going. These vital elements commonly known as yeast vitamines are most conveniently supplied in GRANT'S VITA-VIM. In tablet form, easy and pleasant to take. Wonderfully effective. Get a bottle from your druggist today.
