c system of maps to be drawn up for
use of such a commission, showing the amount of population served by street car, telephone and sewer systems, the distribution of population In the city, the use to which land lying'wlthin the city limits is put, and the like. Work of the city planning commisfiion will be modeled along what is being done in Hamilton, Ohio. In the city engineer's office of the city building is a book showing some of the
plans under way there. Proposed Improvements The book shows in an excellent manner the present conditions of the city of Hamilton, and the improvements that could be made by following out a definite program of city planning. A Union station fronting on a large plaza la beautifully depicted in the book. x , At the start of the book is a comprehensive plan showing proposed city improvements. Among the topics taken up farther on is the relation of city streets to county highways, the width of streets of the city, transit systems and park systems. Why is France Demanding a Big Navy?
Why is the French nation, burdened
with war debts and taxes, insisting on maintaining a big standing army?
The answer cannot be written in a word. It requires study. The average citizen cannot make the first hand study which is necessary to complete understanding. The whole question of armaments and wars revolves around business. A colony is Important, for instance, be

WINCHESTER SHERIFF ARRESTS CAR THIEVES
WINCHESTER, Ind., Jan. 10. Sheriff Fisher and Deputy Sheriff
Reichard arrested two men late Sunday night sear Bartonia, eight miles southeast of here and brought them to Winchester. The men gave the names of Cecil Allen, 18, and Delbert Duzenbury, 20, both of Lansing, Mich., where they had stolen an automobile and drove in the direction of Ohio. Somewhere in Ohio they abandoned the automobile and stole another and made their way towards Indiana coming to Union City. After leaving Union City they drove "southwest and when in the neighbor
hood of Bartonia they ran into a ditch and found that they were out of gasoline. They secured lodging at a farm house for the night. The farmer becoming suspicious went to a neighbor's house and called the sheriff and the arrest followed. The boys were both armed.

CONSIDER WARNINGS IN FOREIGN TONGUES Plans for sending out warnings to the Hungarian and Italian' population of the city, - warning such persons of the provisions of the law were discussed by Mayor Lawrence Handley
and Attorney J. F. Pace Monday. Pace offered to translate such a warning Into Italian and Hungarian languages If the administration would agree to circulate printed statements among the foreign population of the city. The action was considered because of the alleged ignorance of many newcomers to this county, who are acting in the belief that they are within the law in making their own liquor. No definite action has been taken by the administration on the proposition.

New Stations,
A number of new stations have been erected within the last two weeks, due to the increasing use of the wireless telephone for broadcasting, which enables any layman, without previous experience, to listen in on something he can understand, after he has spent
a little time learning how to adjust his set. W. Lay, of Ridgeville, sends word that two farmers living near that city have installed Westinghouse sets solely to receive the market reports sent out regularly by the Palladium 'and other broadcasting stations.
Orville Wood, of Camden, has in
stalled a set lately wiih which he is getting very good results.
In addition to Warren Copp, another
amateur, Earl E. Rinck, .has a set at
West Alexandria, Ohio, with which he
is listening in to all the broadcasts.
