The EJk3 club was the scene of one of the moat elaborate and successful affairs of the holiday season Sunday evening when members, their families and friends were entertained with a New Year's cabaret dinner and dance. The club assumed a gala appearnce . with its holiday decortkms. Wreaths and holly were used in the decorations of the first floor rooms and the balustrade of the staircase was twined with long ropes of holly. The banquet hall was banked with greenery and canopied with red and green streamers across which floated scores of brilliant colored balloons. Varl-col-ored balloons were fastened to the back of each chair at the long tables.
Each tablo was illuminated by great red candles and light domes shaded in bright colors. The ballroom on the third floor was illuminated by long rows of poinsettia shaded lights alternated with red bells. Above the dance . floor a tTelli3 of red and green streamers had been woven through which fchown lights suspended from the ceiling above. A three-course turkey dinner was served at 10:30 o'clock in the banquet hall to 150 guests, during which a cabaret entertainment was staged. Harry Frankel's entertainers played a number of popular selections and songs were given by Harry Frankol, Robert Heun and Frank Holland. Cos-

One of the most notable affairs of;
the entire year will take place this week when the American Legion is giving a benefit ball for disabled veterans at the Coliseum Thursday evening. One thousand invitations have been issued for the dance. The legion ia assisted in giving the ball by the Woman's auxiliary of the legion, headed by Mrs. A. W. Roach. The dance is sponsored by a number of prominent persons. their out-of-town guests. The bail was one of the 'largest affairs given at the club during the past year and was attended by over 100 couples. Chains of southern smilax, wreaths and mounds of greenery formed the setting for the affair. The lights were shaded in red and long ropes of smiiax were stretched from light to light. Music for the dancing was furnished by the Harry Frankel Entertainers. A mid-night supper was served to the guests. Open house was held at the Country club Mondav afternoon when a tea
