GEORGE ADE READY FOR HARD WINTER
INDIANAPOLIS, Dec. 23. Greater efficiency on the part of local taxing officials in determining the valuations of property was predicted for the coming year by Chairman John Brown, of the state board of tax commissioners, after the close of the annual confer ence of county assessors with tho state board. Mr. Brown aid he regarded the meeting as a distinct success and that Its full value -would b8 reflected in the work of the assessing
officials next year. Discussion of the assessment, of real estate next year at the closing se.v sions of the conference indicated thaf property will be assessed on the same basis as in 1919. While a number of assessors pointed to the demands of farmers for a reduction in the aporaisments of farm lands, it appeared that there will be no substantial reduction for this class of property. Land, which was assessed above its true cash value, it is believed, will be reduced as a result of tho conference. On tho other hand, property which has been assessed at a lower figure than its real value probably will be increased to full cash value. Valuations May Offset Each Other Statements of members of the conferences indicated a belief that value of city real estate has increased and that If farm land values have decreased, the reduction in taxes from this source will be offset by the high
er valuation of city property. Tho question of land assessment.? was the most important matter before the conference. This question is rc- .. garded as extremely difficult and tho i tax officials will give it much thought. Governor MeCray delivered a short address emphasizing statements that assessments of various classes of property must be equalized. He urged tht practice of economy in order to reduce (axes. SJambers of the conference opened a (pjest-on box containing querries on ?11 phases of taxation problem. Members of the tax board and assistants Enswered tho questions and interpreted tax laws for the benefit of the ss-esors.

by Mrs. Mary Preston Cooking Expert and Food Analyst Will a woman wear the same style hat her mother used to wear? Certainly not! Neither will she light her home with candles and lamps when she can get gas and electricity. The sales-manager of The Heekin Company said, "That's all very true, but when it comes to baking powder, all women are slaves of habit. They'll use the brands their mothers used, or the brand they first used themselves and they are afraid to change." "Why should they change to Heekin's?" I asked him, just to hear what he'd say. He actually sputtered. "Why should they change? Because they can't buy a better, purer, or more uniform baking powder than Heekin's, and it costs them much less than any other baking powder that even approaches Heekin's in quality. That's why." "And that's all you have to tell any woman to get her to try Heekin's," I told him. And I knowthat a trial will make any woman as enthusiastic about Heekin's as I am. For any woman can get excellent baking results with it. Heekin's is full-strength down to the last spoonful because every bit of it is baking powder. No foreign ingredients are added to create an unnatural effervescence or to give a false impression of quality. Heekin's is the favorite with thousands of women. Your results are guaranteed with Heekin's Baking Powder. For if anything you bake using Heekin's does not turn out to your entire satisfaction, the price of the full can of baking powder and the price of the ingredients in whatever you bake will be returned to you. Simply list the prices and send with your name and address to The Heekin Company, Cincinnati, Ohio. Buy a can today and use it you'll like Heekin's.
