SAYS CO-OPERATIVE MARKETING BENEFITS FARMERS AND PUBLIC pianist, MILTON, Ind., Dec. 15. "Farmers co-operative marketing; associations wherever tried, have resulted in betirr prices to the farmer, with no increase, but on the contrary, a reduction in the price the consumer paid," said Prof. U A. Pittinger of Muncie. speaking to a meeting of the Washington township farmers' association in the Milton Grange hall Wednesday night. Citing examples of prosperity resulting from co-operative selling, the speaker told of the plight of Denmark as told him by a Danish college professor when he was attending college, contrasted with its present prosperity as reported by a neighbor who had traveled through it two years ago.. Mentioning the California co-operatives, he stated 10 years ago, grape vines or orange trees were an incumbrance, making the land worth less than if it was bare. Co-operative selling has resulted in getting better prices for the producers with no corresponding raise in price to the consumer. "We must be allowed living prices in order to have a little leisure to lead and study our problems and to meet and talk over our problems," he concluded. Refers to "Old Guard." Referring to the "old guard," opposition to the agricultural bloc, Pittin per said: "We must have legislative justice, and we are getting it through the bloc. I agree with President Harding that blocs are not the proper things for passing laws, but -we found 140 offices devoted to special legislation when we went to Washington, and we were forced into forming a bloc. We are only doing openly what others have been doing secretly fo. years." Explanation of several state federation activities was given by County President Everett Hunt in answer to questions from the audience. On request of the township chairman, that a substitute vice president be elected to take Earl Crawford's place, as he is. too busy, to attend many meetings, Ross Doddridge and William Wessel were nominated and tying in votes, they were named first and second vice chairmen, respectively. Song Pleases. A unique touch to the program was the song by Harry Doty, cnoosing nnp of the farm bureau songs from the new book, he struck a popular chard and wa3 recalled for an encore. Hi? wife accompanied him on the piano. Other music was furnished by a newly organized local orchestra, whoss program was interspersed Tvith lively dance music that Eet many feet to stirring restlessly. A xylophone was included among their instruments and attracted much attention from the audience. Members who played at the meeting were: Estin Dailey, cornetist; Olin Davis, OXIDAZE TABLETS Made with Essential Oils For Politicians Auctioneers Clergymen Lecturers Singers Anyone who speaks or sings in public, whose voice is apt to grow husky or weak from the strain, will find that one Oxidaze tablet' slowly disolved in the mouth before speaking or singing, will make a world of difference.
