LVLM AUC VYAIMRd SAYS AT ELK RITES

"Every age ha3 its problem, every a?e its paramount duty," said Charles Tv'atkins, of Muncie, In his address at the memorial service of Richmond lodge of Elks In the First Tresbyterian church Sunday afternoon. "The men of one generation do not leave their task for the succeeding one to carry, but solve it, and pass on

into the realm of eternity. The men of the last generation, for instance, bloted out the perils of slavery, and gave to the children of this age a united end free country. - "The men and women of this day have their own problo-ms, too. They cannot shrik or evade them if they wp.nt to be true to the traditions of their forbears who believed in handling their own issues and contributing their share toward the development of the republic. . "This heritage of the past, hallowed by the sacrifical service of noble men nd women, is ours to develop and to improve. We also have momentous problems, chief of which is a disregard for law that cannot be traced to a weakening of our love for the republic, but rather to a fcrgetfulness of some of our parents as to their duty in rearing the youth. Must Lead Youth. "Unless the fires are kept burning on the home altars, and the boys and girls are taught to love, and revere the country and ita laws, we cannot solve this problem. Every man unconsciously is the hero and pattern alter which some boy is conforming his life. How solemn the thought that we. unknowing and unwittingly, are .-haping the characters and influencing the idea's of the youth! How necessary lor each of us to lead true, uprght and noble lives!' Th.n addn.-ss was one of the moit eloquent heard at a memorial service of trip order for many years. Attorney Will Reller spoke in memory of Harmon Meyer; T. C. Taylor and Forrest. Murray, the three members who Passed away in the last year. Musical features were by The quartet of the thurch. and the Rev. J. J. Rne pronounced the prayer and benediction.
