Wayne County Farm Bureau Meetings in various part3 of the county are indicative of tho interest which farmers are taking in the many problems pertaining to their industry. Their vital position in the economy of the nation, as the producers of the foodstuffs for its inhabitants, is fully appreciated by them, and is beginning to be understood more fully by the city dwellers. Agriculture is still the basic industry cf tho country and intimately related to its prosperity and happiness. Everything that pertains to that industry has therefore a value not only to the fanner himself but also to the manufacturer, retailer and consumer. The millions who are engaged in commerce and industry in its many ramifications depend upon the farmers who raise the foodstuffs to support them physically. The urban dweller is approaching the crob-

gressive men of their industry in Indiana. It is a noteworthy fact that the county always has been a substantial farming and manufacturing unit of the state. As far back as 1845, descriptions of the county in state gazatteers called attention to its rich agricultural districts and to the presence of a large number of industries in its cities and towns. The fanning industry has not lost its commanding position in the years that have rolled by, but has made many substantial advances. The farm bureau has done much to strengthen the farmer in his aim to make his industry a strong factor in our community life. Its mem-

; bers constantly are on the alert to improve their

condition, realizing that every progressive movement which they launch is bound in the end to help everyone else in the community. The agricultural industry had much to contend with in the readjustment period, and it still has important problems ahead of it, which it hopes to solve. Through this organization farmers have a medium of expressing their opinions collectively and of assisting each other in working out projects that are of common interest and benefit. ' The growth of the federation has been a

source of gratifying pride to its members. Th

TODAY'S TALK By Geor2e Matthew Adams, Author cf "You Can," "Take It." "Up" TIRED OUT It is the sitting room of an average heme. A large tapestried chair, with half wings, holds a man. In bis lap is a little child. he Is asleep. Curls wind about her delicate ear3 and drop in sympathetic beauty about her lovely face. On the forehead is one of them lying in wait to catch the first flashing spark frcm her eyes when they open. The arms, dropped to her sides, are bare almost to the shoulders and look like marble, so exquisitely formed and doiicato they are. The white dress has been pulled over her dimpled knees as she sl'pped into sleep in the lap of him who holds her. Black patent leather pumps with straps about the ankles have received the little feet, with rolled white socks which have lost their place. Just a short way from tha chair a toy horse stands A tiny doll rests against a pile cf blocks nearby. There are many trinkets" scattered about, with a silent ball in their midst. The one who holds this lapful cf treasure is a man with wM:e hair. His left arm is curled about, the tired little player He secm to be thinging whole volumes as he looks into the closed eyes of the sleeper. The day U almost done. The rcorn is dark but for the trinknrrays or the setting sun at play amongst its distant pearls and rubies and opals. Outside, a various world but in there, a small corner cf heaven' Soon the white haired man will lift the dreaming little body and carry it tenderly to its bed. Then a Mother will come and tuck it in and put a kiss among the golden curlsand then she will tip-too out of the room, leaving a patch of love-stars to watch above till morning comes. .And then romping down the stairs will coma the restless ltle player again, to take up the blocks and dolly and horsey and all!
