GRAIN GROWERS HEAD SAYS ORGANIZATION IS WORLD'S LARGEST
(By Associated Press) ATLANTA, Go., Nov. 22 The United States Grain Growers, Inc., is now the largest co-operative grain marketing organization in the world, in- point of membership, bushels of grain to be handled and territory covered, C. j H. Gustafson, ita president, told the American Farm Bureau Federation here today. Tills farmer corporation was formed in Chicago last April. "We have nearly 25,000 members in 10 middle -west states, representing p.t least 50 million bushels of marketable grain," Mr. Gustafson reported. "This is more than either one of the two large farmers' companies in Canada have ever handled in one year. The most that any of these companies have handled in one year was 40 million bushels. In other and later years they have handled less than half that much. Expect Rapid Growth. "If the present rate of progress continues the U. S. Grain Growers will have 150.000 members a year from now. representing at least 300,000,000' bushels of grain. "There is handled on the Chicago market in one year an average of about S25.00C.000 bushels, so there is promise of our becoming a real factor in the grain markets of the world." Any intention of manipulating prices cf the farmers through their own marketing machinery was vigorously disavowed by President Gustafson. He said they were dissatisfied with present conditions because they believed market prices were manipulated, and if farmers were to adopt similar practices they "would deserve all of the public condemnation that would be heaped upon them." Dal Fairly "If we deal fairly with consumers, we shall prosper," he said, "but if we pervert our organizations to the end of artificially affecting prices they i will not last." There i3 no brighter spot on the horizon of American agriculture today than that of co-operative marketing, President Gustafson observed. "A large majority of American farmers have progressed far enough along the road of cooperation so that we can spend time profitably in explaining methods rather than be forced j to mark time while we argue prm ciples," he reported. "The farmer is not only ready to cooperate but he is working with his neighbors in town- - . . , . . : " i ship, county, state and nation. The Theatres

MURRAY VAUDEVILLE True to promise the Murray management has indeed brought a special holiday bill for the first half. Jarvis and Harrison quite capably occupy the stellar position. Just a ;-hort 13 minutes of nonsensical byplay, but so popularly catching and jovial that one can but sit and approve. The act is of Keith repute: bright, clever and with a winning twist in conclusion. A bit of everything is bundled into Knapp and Cornelia's offering. First, however, in all that they do. they aspire to amuse. In accomplishing this end they spread a bit of hokum, entertain musically, and finish with an athletical dancing exhibition. Perhaps El Cota, Xylophoni: t, runs a good race for first honors of the bill. Light comedy, intermingled with a deft knowledge of the Xylophone, wins for him a generous hand.
