Soldiers or Dollars?

Europe cannot mobilize both. While she sticks to soldiers, she cannot pay us $11,000,000,000 she owea us. While this money Is unpaid, you have to pay it. Money devoted to European armaments Is withheld from European commerce. Europe is a normal market for more than half of America's exports. This market will stay closed unless the present situation is changed. Cutting off this great market means

unemployment here. The direct loss to America through European armaments is clear. The cure sought by a prostrate business world Is limitation of armaments. If no nation had the means of sudden, aggressive war, international conflicts would pass. Limitation of armaments is no longer a sentimental dream. It Is a

uubin&s necessity. Anotner war would completely bankrupt the world. The report of the committee of leading American business men that investigated the European situation for the Chamber of Commerce of the United States is of vital importance to every American. Beethoven Moved Often !

Daring Stay in Vienna' Beethoven is said to have been a bad ' tenant. During the 35 years he spent i in Vienna, he lived in 2S different j houses. Where he was living 100 : years ago, the most diligent of an- j tiquarians are unable to determine, i The longest he ever lived in one place j was from 1810 to 1815. The explana-; tion of this protracted stay is easy. ! Baron Pasquall, his landiond, under-:

stood him and appreciated him. Bee- j thoven, enraged because some little j thing went wrong, would move out, j but the baron always refusel to show j a "To let" sign, saying in his affable j way: "Ah, he'll come back". And the '
