VATICAN ANNOUNCES PLAN TO FIX EASTER:

LLOYD GEORGE WILL BE "AT HOME" HERE DURING ARMS CONFERENCE

(By Associated Press) ROME, Nov. 1. The Vatican has announced that a conference of astronomers will tako place in Rome next April under the presidency of Cardinal Mercier with the object of

reforming the calendar and fixing ;

Easter.

The occurence this year of Easter Sunday on March 27, within five days of its earliest possible date, revived the proposal for a fixed Easter. No fewer than 16 Easters will happen in March between now and the close of this century an average of one every five years unless something is done to prevent the erratic wandering of the festival between March 22 and April 25. Under the existing ecclesiastical rule Easter Sunday can fall on any of 25 dates. The present rule is that Easter must be a Sunday and that he ecclesiastical fuul moon (which is not tt-3 same as the real

moon) upon which it depends must occur on one of the seven days im-i mediately preceding it. Thus, to have i

Easter Sunday , on its earliest date, March 22. the ecclesiastical moon must be full on March 21, which date must also be a Saturday; but so rarely are these conditions satisfied in the same year that it is over a century Eince Easter fell on March 22, and it will not again fall so early until the year 2285. Of late years the inconvenience of a movable Easter has induced calendar reformers to propose reforms fhlch will either make Easter a fixed festival or greatly restrict its wanderings. One suggestion is that Easter Sunday should be assigned to the third Sunday after the spring equinox, which would give it a range of eight days, between April 5 and April 13, according to tht date and day of the week on which the equinox falls.

Eaton, showed good results last week, all local signals coming in strongly. Though some changes will be made in the hook-up, the results justify a be

DX Work by 9PD Maurice Druley succeeded last week in communicating with 4BQ, at Rome, Ga. His station has only been in operation since Thursday. The southern station, which was using a half kilowatt, came in strongly at Richmond, and reported Druley's signals fairly loud also. Inexpensive Sets. Many who are interested in radio

The Munn residence and latest photo of Premier Lloyd George, taken when be attended services for Great Britain's unknown soldier. It is understood that Premier Lloyd George of Great Britain has accepted the offer of the use of the home of Mrs. Charles A. Munn on Scott Circle, Washington, for himself and party during the disarmament conference. This acceptance, it is said, is conditional on his decision to attend the conference. It is not known definitely as yet whether he will head the British delegation. The offer of the Munn home was made by Gurnee Munn, Mrs. Munn's son. It is a short distance north of the White House and two blocks east of the British embassy.

FARMERS DEMAND LOWER RENTALS ON TELEPHONES LAPORTE. Ind., Nov. 1. Abolition of intra-county tolls and of wartime telephone rentals was demanded officially by the Laporte County Farm bureau in its annual meeting here. In three townships, Michigan, Coolspring and Springfield, farmers already have proxied to a committee the right to order retention or removal of nearly every telephone in the three townships, which embrace the Michigan area. This system of delegated removal authority will be made countywide, and the committee will use this authority as a big stick with which to enforce its demands.

McCook Field Balloon Heard Local operators heard the first successful attempt at McCook Field to transmit from a balloon to the field by radio Saturday. Danger of fire from sparks had prevented this before. The aeronaut was heard by McKinley Leepley of Cambridge City at 11:30 Saturday, on a loose coupler and one bulb detector, no amplification. The balloon was using a 600 meter wave length and was at 1,000 feet altitude. Leslie E. Hart, of Richmond, also reports having heard the Dayton station at work with the balloon overhead. Sending Station for Eaton Several Eaton amateurs have ambitious plans for a station. Women of Middle Age

THE critical stage of a woman's life usually comes between the years of 45 and 55, and is often beset with annnoying symptoms such as nervousness irritability, melancholia, heat flashes which produceheadache and dizziness, and. a sense of suffocation. Guard your health carefully, for if this period be passed over safely, many years of perfect health

may be enjoyed.

Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound is especially adapted to help women through this crisis. It exercises a restorative influence, tones and strengthens the system, and assists nature in the long weeks and months covering this period. It is prepared from medicinal roots and herbs, and contains no harmful drugs or narcotics. Its value is proven by many such letters as these :

Afton, Term. -"I want other suffering women to know what Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound has done for me. During Change of Life I was in bed for 18 months and had good care, but did not improve. A friend advised me to take Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound, which I did, and in a fhort time I felt better. That was live years ago, and now when I feel run down and nervous I take the Compound and it always does me good. I wish all women would try it during Change of Life, for I know it will do them good." Mrs. A. Keller, Afton, Term.

Thomas, Okla. a I first used Lydia. E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound in my girlhood days, by the advice of a friend. At the age of 47 1 was troubled with dizziness, hot flashes, and became very weak so that I was unable to do any work. I took Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound with the result that I felt better and stronger than I have for years. I have also given it to my 'three daughters, and always with good results. The Vegetable Compound is certainly grand for the ills of women." Mrs. J. G. Swakey, Route B, Thomas, Okla.
