A Life of Real Service
When a member of the community teaches a Sunday school class for more than 70 years, ; the commentary on her achievement must be a
flattering xone.
Mrs. Hannah Bradbury of Green's Fork, who,
' despite her more than 90 years,
: her interest in the Methodist Sunday school of that' town, attending it regularly and teaching
, her class, is one of the contributing factors to
' the moral strength of the community. The influence of such a Christian woman canunot be estimated in monetary terms. From her ; , radiate influences so subtle and yet so f ar-reach-ing that they invade wide avenues of culture, '; sweetening the lives of hundreds, ennobling their ; 'characters, and impelling them to follow the best ideals of conduct and deportment. One can hardly realize that Mrs. Bradbury ! has been an active factor in a church for 70 : i years. This span of years usually embraces a :i lifetime, and few there are, here or elsewhere, i .

No blizzards, with their angry roaring, disturb our calm, or records break; we are not frozen while we're snoring, or broiled : or baken when we're awake. The days are mildly warm and hazy, the kind of days good judges pick; and we've all ' grown so all-fired lazy we lack the pep to make a kick. All day we bask on strips of lumber, all day we loiter la the sun, and nod and yawn and sample slumber, and put oft chores that should be done. And this will do for ancient fellows with shining .' domes, and rheumy glims, 'who suffer from asthraatlo bellows, and spavins on their starboard limbs. But if I had tan heir-apparent, and he desired to r anchor here, I'd say, "Augustus John. 7 JOU daren't 'twould make you worthless in a year. Here we old graybeards herd together; we don't need pep, for -we are through; but young men need ' some wintry "weather to tone up heart and brain and thew. The raging blizzards are unsightly, but they are better -for a man than languid winds that ,ome politely and make of him an alsoran. L don't indorse 'the perfect eliminate,' devoid of elemental stress; I .have good reason, and I'd rhyme it, "but I'm too lazy, I confess."

not have come under the influence of her relig
ious training and the magic of her personality! In toe seven decades an imposingly large number certainly can today testify, of her devotion to duty and her desire to have them follow correct principles and remain on the road of rectitude and honor. Mrs. Bradbury has seen the founding of the
Methodist church
growth of her denomination in this county. Per
haps no member Wayne county is the pioneer era, still maintains recall. The sterling
who founded this county are abundantly reflected in the character of Mrs. Bradbury, whose
life has been an exemplification of the positive ideals of good citizenship, expressed in acts and not by wTords only. Mrs. Bradbury is enjoying an age which few persons live to see. And not the least pleasant of her recollections must be the enjoyment and pleasure she derives from the many years given to religious teaching and to helping others to sec the true way of life. Her life is an inspiration to those who are seeking to make the world better, and assuredly should be an example well worthy of the emulation of all of us.
TODAY'S TALK By George Matthew Adams, Author of "You Can", "Take It", "Up" A TRUE STORYv Not very long ago, a noted visitor came to the United States and was to be entertained by a group of New York business men. A conference was held to decide on what big thing might be done ' to impress upon the distinguished foreigner the enterprise of the Americans and at the same time bring forward the fact that this is an extremely progressive age. But there was no one to present the "big idea!'. Finally one man remarked that it might be well to have the young advertising man come in any try Ms brain out on the dilemma. And so he was put on the job. It took but a few minutes for this bright chap to suggest: "Why not. show him what the telephone will do? Let him listen to the roar of the Atlantic Ocean then to the roar of the Pacific Ocean then let him hear them both roar at once!" The advertising man's idea was put thru and the famous man left America convinced that miracles are with us yet. There is little excuse for a prosaic life during this period of existence. There are more extraordinary happenings every day than the most intelligent ever imagines. Come into New York City from the New Jersey side and your train will go scores of feet below the bed of the Hudson river and then arrive smoothly at the Pennsylvania Station in that magic city. I was told the other day that millions of words a day were spoken under the very ground I walk, thru the medium of the telephone. And now by radio-communication our very voices are sent miles thru the air to become as real as tho transported across wires. We really know very little.
Who's Who in the Day's News PRINCE MAX OF BADEN Phince Maximilian of Baden, the last of ex-kaiser Wilhelm's chancellors of the German empire, has placed himself at the head of a national movement for the revision of the treaty of VersalHes "by means of popular pressure," both at homo and abroad. In a pampniet just issued he has appealed in special way to the American people who he asserts were nearly as badly betrayed as Germany through the treaty Is he a fit leader for this great move' ment? At the time of his elevation to the chancellorship of the empire, in Oct., 1918, Prince Max was descrirbed in many Amehican papers as PCIMCfc MAX. "one of the sanest statesmen in Ger many." That did not speak well for any of his fellow countrymen. For he spent; several years after he had grown up to manhood in the celebrated lunatic asylum of Purkersdorf, near Vienna. There is a strong strain of insanity in his makeup. For the sovereign Grand Duke Louis 1, Leopold and Louis II of Baden all suffered from mental affliction. Prince Maximilian is likewise burdenied through his Muscovite mother with -the heritage of insanity, which has cast a blight upon all descendants of the crazy Emperor Paul of Russia. And as if this was not enough, Prince Maximilian' has a consort and as the mother of his children a princess of the former reigning house of Hanover, whose aged father, the ex-crowa prince' of Hanover, and generally known until the outbreak of the great war by his English royal title of Duke of Cumberland, has been under restraint for the last seven years or more in his beautiful chateau, or rather palace, on the shores cf Lake Gmunden in Austria, as wholly bereft of reason. Prince Maximilian was in his younger days extremely wild. The pace which he had gone was too rapid, even for the Russian Grand Duches3 Helene (now Princess Nicolas of Greece,) whose father, the late Grand Quke Vladimir, and whose brothers, the Grand Dukes Cyril and Boris, were Would Shut Down Gas Works "My stomach ha3 been so filled with gas for the last three years that I felt I could pretty nearly supply our town. LOCAL WOMEN ORGANIZE CLUB Statement is Given by Member of the Indianapolis Division. A local woman's club that is rapidly growing in membership is that composed of the women of this city who have been brought back to good health by Pepgen. At Indianapolis, the members of this club number thousands. Mrs. Carrie McClellan, of 3538 West Michigan Street, Indianapolis, one of the members of the club at the Capital City, says: "For years I suffered with my stomach and the trouble finally became chronic. Nearly everything I ate disagreed with me. The truth is that for years I did not enjoy a Eingle meal I ate. After every meal, gas formed on my stomach. I bloated badly and felt very uncomfortable. I became restless and nervous and couldn't sleep right. "So many Indianapolis people recommended Pepgen in the newspapers that I decided to try this medicine. I have improved gradually since I started taking fepgen. i am now m much better health generally. The gas on my stomach is not nearly as bad. The bloating has been relieved. I have a fine appetite and ca,n eat a big meal without suffering afterward. The restlessness and nervousness has disappeared. I sleep a great deal better."
