NATIONAL INDUSTRY RECOVERING, HOOVER TELLS EXPORT BODY NEW YORK. Oct 7. National industry today is in the early springtime of recovery, having entered the period of easier credits. Secretary of Commerce Hoover told members of the American Manufacturers' Export association at their annual dinner last night. This was marked, he said, by the rise in the price of bonds and the fall in federal reserve and interest rates generally. He emphasized thai he did not wish, to be understood as saying that the country is on the threshold of a boom. "We have a long way to go to get back to economic stability," he said. "We have yet to go through with much readjustment in price levels, but we are definitely on the road." Citing other evidences of recovery, Hoover said there had been a very definite Increase during the last two months in the production of textiles, coal, iron, steel, shoes, building materials and building construction. Food Exports Larger "There is in the construction industries," he continued, "even a larger activity than at this time a year ago. Our exports of foodstuffs have not only been increasing, but they are also larger in volume than that of a ' year ago, and this, indeed, without any forced measures of foreign government credits." The destructive effect of violent fluctuations in foreign exchange, he said, was the first obstruction to American foreign trade and, until some measure of stability could be secured from month to month, there was little hope that the foreign trade of thi3 or any other country would recover to normal. The individual nations of the world, he asserted, must balance their budgets tfd cease the processes of inflation, as this was the primary basis upon which stability must be erected. "There can be no hope of stability , in any of the world's exchanges," he added, "so long as inflation continues ' in so considerable a part of the world."

ladies. Helene Chadwick and Molly Malone. Both have been closely identified with the work of the Goldwyn Eminent authors, Helene Chadwick being known chiefly for her work in the Rupert Hughes stories. "The Cup of Fury," and "Scratch My Back." and "Molly Malone for her appearances in stories by Mary Roberts Rinehart. Their presence in the cast is a guarantee of the light, pleasing love interest that has come to be associated with all of Tom Moore's pictures. Helene Chadwick as the haughty, beautiful heroine scorns her millionaire suitor by marrying a fireman, and Molly Malone portraying the younger sister who steals the millionaire and renders the sacrifice useless, are per feet foils to each other. "Made in Heaven" is a comedy of an ambitious Irishman who leaves the ould sod and finds his fortune and a wife in America. MURRAY. Score another win for William Russell. The Fox .star, despite his identification chiefly with pictures of west-

ern, rough-and-ready life, captured his

audience from the start yesterday, with his opening performance in "Children of Night," at the Murray theatre. v The Max Brand story deals with the love romance of a prominent Wall street financier, but its incidents are singularly strenuous in character. They give the stalwart star opportunity for a couple of the fiercest fights he ever put over on the screen. They show him as the hero of a rescue following an automobile accident; as a man doomed to death by a gang cf criminals because he had come to "know too much' about their organized villainies; as a prospective victim unafraid of murderous foes, And as a society man who takes desperate chances in hand-to-hand conflict in the den of iniquity. And all for love of a woman. The story, pointing a moral, is de-

De Valera Urges United ' Ireland in Address DUBLIN; Oct. 7. The principle of Irish unity was reiterated yesterdav by Eamon De Valera, Irish republican leader, in addressing a North Antrim deputation, the last of several delegations from Nationalists within the area of the northern parliament. Ireland naturally is a unit, Mr. DcValera declared, and any attempt to depart from, the whole nation as a unit would lead necessarily to political absurdities. He asserted that the dividing of Ireland did not get rid of minority problems, but multiplied them. He said the unity of Ireland was as much a fundamental principle as self-determination, adding that both were based upon right and Justice.

veloped along the lines of onrushing' thrills. In it Russell is seen at his best. It embraces the highest and the lowest in the 'scales of metropolitan life. And, of course, at the close evil is left flat on its back and the lovers are happy. "Children of Night" is wholesome and hearty entertainment. The star's support is excellent throughout. MURRAY VAUDEVILLE A comedy acrobatic act features the first part of the Murray vaudeville program for the last half. The Monroe brothers present a very complete act and they have their audience in a continuous uproar. Their acrobatic 6tunts are new and are perfected in every detail. They have their stunts timed so that they come out just right and the surprise stunt is pulled when ono of the brothers suddenly vanishes in the midst of one of his bouncing acts. The Ahearns put on an act of fancy roping and Spanish dancing. They have a new line of jokes which they crack as they perform. This act is novel in every way and it pleases the audience to the limit. Mabel Blondell appears for a few minutes to entertain, and during her time on the stage she imitates a waitress, chorus girl and a stylish dude. Tips and Taps, the final act, consists of clog dancing and general stunts. This company consists of two couples and their team work is remarkably finished.
