GREENVILLE, Ohio, Oct 5 L. W. Scherer, who conducts a grocery at the comer ot Twelfth street and Riffle avenue, had a narrow escape from death at milepost No. 90, on the Pan Handle railway thre"e and a half miles cast of Greenville, known as the Walker's crossing, about 9:30 o'clock, Tuesday morning, when an enclosed

motor truck which he was driving,

was struck by a west-bound passenger train No. 803, due here at 9:47.

Mr. Scherer was thrown from the truck, his right hand painfully cut and bruised and he was bruised also about the body, but his injuries are not ot

a serious character.

The Theatres

MURRAY A real Western rodeo relic of a picturesque, passing West is one of the exciting features of "Penny of Top Hill Trail," the Federated feature starring Bessie Love, which is playing at the Murray theatre. The scene was filmed on a California ranch, and some of the best riders living took part in it. Miss Love was scheduled to ride a mustang, but her first attempt ended abruptly when she was thrown over the head of the bucking steed. A week in bed with a sprained ankle and wrenched side was the result, but then the scene was

re-taken and Miss Love bestrode the

same spirited horse in triumph. MURRETTE One of the finest casts ever assembled is being seen in "The Old

Nest," the Rupert Hughes story of mother love and American family life, playing at the Murrette theatre. The story is a film version of a short story that appeared in the Saturday Evening Post, and was produced by

the Goldwyn company. The director, Reginald Barker, is well known for the many fine productions he has made for Goldwyn. In the cast Mary Alden plays the leading role, that of the mother, who appears first as the young matron with her six children of school age. Then, a little older, with greying hair, she is their companion and advisor. Finally they grow to manhood and womanhood, leave the old nest and strike out into the world for themselves. Here, the poignancy of Miss Alden's acting as the old mother is irresistible.
