The bowling season in Richmond opened Wednesday, night on the Twigg alleys, when the city league bowlers got into action for the first three league games, which brought out some good bowling, that promises a tight race in the league the entire season. The Wilson Cleaners got away to a good start and grabbed off all three games from the Manner Meats. The

Cleaners were hitting the pins right, and their lowest score was 996, and their highest score was 1036. Ray

was the star performer of this match, getting both the high score and the high average of 224 and 204 respectively. These also were the high score and average for the evening. The Pennsy team proved no match for the Feltman Tramps in their three games and the Tramps' copped two out of the three games. High team score of the evening was rolled by the Tramps hitting a 1037 score. Meyer captured high score of 209 and tied Green for high average of 1S6. The new teams in the league, the Fords and the B. and B. Shoes staged a battle that a winner could not be decided until the last men on each team had rolled. The Fords managed to cop the final game after dropping the first two. This is the first year

that several of the men on the Ford team have rolled in a league. Miller, of the Fords, rolled the high score of 202 and Runnels of the Shoes, took the high average of 171. The results: Maher'Meats. Player 1st 2nd 3rd Tl. Av.

SPARTANBURG SCHOOL

TEAM ENTHUSIASTIC OVER FALL PROSPECT

SPARTANBURG, Ind.. Sept. 22. Enthusiasm in the Spartanburg high school is running high over the bright prospects for winning teams in fall and winter sports. The 6chool is now engaged in the playing of a fall baseball schedule of eight games, and are also forward to one of the best season in basketball in the schools history. Ray Addington, a graduate of Will

iam and Mary's cpllege, Williamsburg, Va., has been secured to coach the athletics in the local school for the coming season and also serve as athletic director of the school. Coach Addington comes to Spartanburg from Ridgeville, where he turned out the best basketball team in the history of that school. Can Shape Up Team. The new coach is not only well posted on the fine points of the game but is also capable of whipping a team into shape so as to get the best out of every man, teaching the men the game as well. Addington, although a new man in the school holds the respect and esteem of every student in the school and the candidates for his athletic teams give the best results possible. The baseball team is-playing an eight game schedule this fall and from

present indications the team is going

to have one of its best season. Two games have been played, the team

winning one and losing one.

Prospects for a good team In the

basketball field are very bright, and Spartanburg promises to let the schools of Indiana know that they are in the running for the district as well as the state championship. -

Coach Addington will have a world

of material to work with this winter

to develop a winning team. Twentyeight games are on the purple and gold schedule this season, of which the locals should win at least two-thirds of the games. Many Last Year Men. First call for basketball will be held as soon as the baseball season is completed. Practically the same men that made up the squad last season are back in school and will make bids for the team. Places on the varsity will be closely contested for by the following men from last years squad: Browne, Shoemake, Deflbaugh, Murray, Moore, Pickett, Tapp, Hutchinson, and Conner. It is possible that Freeman, floor guard of the Whitewater school team last season will enter the Spartanburg school this year, and if so will boost the basketball stock in the local school very high. Freeman is a good man in the game and would be a town strength to the local team. Many good games appear on the Spartanburg schedule this season and games have been scheduled with such teams as Hagerstown, Richmond. Spiceland, Ridgeville and Cambridge City.
