EARLHAM MEETS HIGH IN PRACTICE TUESDAY; BOTH TEAMS IK FORM
Coach Mowe sent his football squad through a good stiff workout Tuesday afternoon which included about an hour's scrimmage with the high school team. The college men experienced little difficulty with high school athletes, although the latter 6howed up exceptionally well as a high school team. Some brilliant runs were pulled off by the Earlham backfield men. The Quaker line needs experience on defense and plans to spend the . time Wednesday evening in developing the much needed 'stone wall combination. Some good material Is developing or the line jobs and experience will be the best teacher for most of it. Old Time Players Back - Mowe started the game with Ivey, Carter, Strickler and Hinshaw in the backfield. Hinshaw back at his quarter position handled the team "in. his old time manner and will without a doubt be Mowe's best bet for the job. Strickler, a new addition to the squad. is also showing up well. The line was composed of Bookout, Stanley, S. Prevo, Beasley, Ewing, Eades and Wenbin. During the course of the scrimmage the Earlham coaches made numerous substitutions especially in the line, as they wished to try out all possible combinations. The practice Wednesday evening will be taken up in developing the defense, and the coaches will once, more go over some of the fundamentals of the game. Work on the charging sled has now become, part of the daily workout. Commercial Bowlers Open Seasons Games Thursday The Commercial Bowlinsr leazue will open its season next Thursdav night at 7:30 o'clock on the Twice al leys. A portable tower 20 feet high is being used by Foster Sanford in coaching the Rutgers football squad. It has four large iron wheels and a shaft enabling it "to be pulled anywhere on the field.
