EATON LEGION POST MAY BE SPONSOR FOR CHAUTAUQUA IN 1922 EATON, O., July 29. Indications at this time are Eaton will have another chautanqua course next year, but It has not been determined whether the old Chautauqua committee or St. Clair post, American Legion, will sponsor the course. The committee seemingly hesitated
tackling the undertaking for next year and J. W. Huffman, Chautauqua superintendent, took up the proposition with
the Legion Post, the executive commit tee of which signified the post's will
ingness to assume the responsibility
of the meeting next year. Final de
cision of the committee has not yet
been officially announced.
W. E. Reel, chairman of the Chautauqua committee, has given out a
financial statement showing the com
mittee has a deficit of about $20 this
year, although the treasury has a balance of 1250. The object of the reserve fund was to establish a local
playground for children,' when thei fund grew sufficiently large. 1 This season's Chautauqua came to a close Thursday evening, aTter a seven-day session. A grand concert was the closing attraction. Paul W. Ward lectured In the afternoon. Start Eastern Star Chapter. Institution of an Eastern Star chapter here Is tentatively scheduled for August 4. It is expected the grand worthy matron will be present. New Paris chapter will take a prominent part in the ceremonies. Rebekah Lodge Reunion. Members of the Rebekah lodges of District No. 46 will hold a reunion here August 20 on the fairgrounds. The Rebekah subordinate lodge members of the district will be invited to participate. A varied program of entertainment is being arranged.
Family Meetings Here. For a number of years August has been the month of family reunions at the county fairgrounds. This year will be no exception. Reunions announced at this time for next month are: August 6, Focht; August 17, Brower; August IS. Potterf. Other reunion dates announced are: August 13. the eighth annual reunion of the Surface family, at the home of Mrs. Tip Brad way. New Hope; August C, ninth annual Garber reunion, at the home of Alger Erbaugh, mile north of Diamond Mills, Montgomery county; August 6. Hapner reunion, at the home of John S. For the purpose of taking up certificates of indebtedness issued against the service fund, council has authorized the issuance of $5,000 worth of bonds. Eaton Meets Farmersvltle.
