The Annual picnic and outing party of the Women's Loyal club waa held "Wednesday at the Pumping Station grove.' Among those present were: Mrs. Adam Elstro and daughter, Mrs. Floyd Clutter and daughter, Mrs. Scott Webb and daughter, Mrs. Howard Brooks and son, Mrs. Charles Thomas, Mrs. William Jones, Mrs. J. Conspicuous among the club parties of the week was the picnic Thursday given for the Haphazard club for which Mrs. Walter Test was hostess at her country home. A picnic dinner was served at noon, garden flowers forming the table decorations. Mrs. Arthur Test and children, of Akron, O., were honored guests at the afTair. The guests were: Mrs. Ed Crowel, Mrs. John Sehwenke, Mrs. John Casely, Mrs. Joseph Dixon, Mrs. Will Fisher, Mrs. Esther Burgess. Mrs. Jennie Niles, Mrs. Ludiow Mott, Mrs. Robert Hass, Mrs. Charles Ronan, Mrs. Ralph Taylor. Mrs. Walter Test, and Mrs. Arthur Test and. children, of Akron, O. The annual picnic of Grace M. E. Sunday school was held Thursday evening with 200 persons in attendance. Supper was served at long tables in the church dining room on account of the rain. Games were played by the guests in the evening. Decisions to pay dues to the national organization of the Service Star Unit of the American legion were tables at the meeting of the local unit held Friday afternoon in the legion rooms. Repeated requests have been made asking that the unit pay dues to the organization. The local unit, like those in many other cities, it is stated, has protested . paying dues because no national organization has been definitely or officially formed to date. A national convention was planned sometime ago and Mrs. R. P. Whisler was appointed as delegate to represent the local unit at a meeting held last January. As yet no date has been set for the convention. A dancing party will be given at Jackson park ,Monday . evening for Shriners of this city and Connersville. The Evan J. Smith orchestra will play for the affair. , . . Pupils of MiS3 Hazel Underbill will be presented in a dramatic art recital Monday evening at 8 o'clock in the high school auditorium. Everyone is invited to attend. A lawn party will be given at the Second Presbyterian church Saturday evening by the Narcissus Girl Scout troop to which the public is invited. Ice cream and candy will be on sale. The Good Cheer class of the United Brethren church will hold its annual picnic Sunday north of Centerville. All members are requested to be ready to start from the church immediately at the close of services Sunday morning. A notable mid-summer function will occur next Wednesday evening when the Chi chapter of Phi Delta Kappa entertains with an informal party and dance at Jackson park. The party is to be one of the conspicuous events of the summer season. A number of spe

Miss Haseltine and Mrs. Morrey are going on account of the serious illness of Mrs. Morrey's mother, who resides at Logansport. Miss Edith Haworth entertained with a dinner party at the China Cafe Friday evening for the peasure of her guest, Miss Alice Newton, of Florence, Ala. Hand-painted Chinese place cards and other Chinese appointments were used in table decorations. Those forming the party were: Miss Newton, Miss Caroyn Rodefeldt, Miss Conda Haworth, Miss Edith Haworth, Albert Jessup, Leroy Harding, Burr Simmons and Everett Lawson. Mrs. J. L. Blossom and Mrs. .C. A. Sigler were hostesses for a pretty lawn tea at the home of Mrs. Sigler on North Twenty-third street, Friday afternoon, when .they entertained for the Ladies' society of the B. of L. F. and E. Other members of the society who were present at the tea were: Mrs. Carl Christy, Mrs. Unthank, Mrs. Phesley, Mrs. Michael, Mrs. George Wysong, Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Fritz Hohenstein, Mrs. Kohler and Mrs. S. E. Bishop. The Perseverance and Parker Memorial classes of the First Baptist church held an apron sale and social entertainment at the church Friday evening which netted $50. The proceeds will go toward the church debt. Books for the soldiers rest-room at Fort Benjamin Harrison which the W. C. T. U. is fitting out are still wanted by the Frances Willard union of this city, which is assisting in the collection of these books. Volumes that are good reading and that are in good condition are wanted, it is stated. Anyone wishing to contribute books for the rest room is asked to leave them at the home of Mrs. John R. Jordan, 114 .North Sixteenth street.

the year of 1921 slightly outnumbered those for the first six months of 1920,

in the city of Richmond and Wayne county, according to the reports city and county health officers.

During the first six months of the year of 1920, 217 babies were born in Richmond and 197 in Wayne county, giving Richmond the majority of 20. In the first six months of the present year, there were 247 babies born in the city and 200 in the county. With the county, and city records added together it gives a total of 414 for the first six months of 1920 and 447 for the first six months pf 1921.
