Menfe Predicts Fight Result; Do You Agree With His Dope? Question of How Long it Will Take Jack, Says Famous Writer Champion May See What Challenger Has Before Tearing in

MEMOS
It isn't a question "Who will win?" but, rather, "How long will it take Jack Dempsey to crush another foeman into oblivion?" The battle of the morrow will last just so long as the mauler from Utah fleets. Without much doubt, Dempsey, by tossing caution to the four winds, could annihilate the Frenchman with a cyclonic attack in the first round probably in the first minute of fistic warfare in Jersey. And he may do that very thing.
But the chances are that the end may not come until the second or the third. Surely it will come before a gong has tolled' the end of four rounds of fighting. For Dempsey's superiority will surmount all obstacles by that time. Battles in Defense. TV'ere Dempsey battling for the championship not in defense of it the surest bet-in the world would be, Dempsey to win in a round. In such a case, with nothing to lose and everything to gain he would tear in wildly, irresistably toss his mighty strength and amazing power into a rush to whirlwind victory. But because Dempsey is champion because he has spmething precious to protect he perhaps will play it tafe until such time as he is reasonably sure that the Frenchman carries no real menace for him. Dempsey has fought a bit differently as champion than he did during the years of his meteoric ascent to the crest. Caution and early carefulness have marked his early round work as the title holder something utterly foreign to him before. Tossed in with Fulton, Willard. Morris, Smith and all the others, Demp
sey tore in wildly, aiming to crumple his foes by the sheer fury of his two handed attack. But .since he's been champion there's a difference an appreciable one. Plays It Safe. Dempsey played it safe for the first round with Billy Miske in Benton
Harbor, even though Miske was regarded as "soft". He might have polished oft Billy in the inaugural. But he laid back, tempting Miske to uncover and Miske did. Then Demp
sey, confident that Miske naa notmng dangerous among his assets, started in the second but still cautiously to beat Miske into submission. Against Brennan it was much the same. The old whirlwind Dempsey wasn't among those present. It was the new, careful, crafty Dempsey at work. He took no desperate chances because the champion who takes such chances is foolish. He fought along cooly. calmly methodically almostand fought to knockout victory It's unlikely that Dempsey will alter his championship style of bat tling tomorrow. Why should he? Why risk running into some trap to score a spectacular one round victory when a triumph a little later will do just as well? Why shouldn't he wait until he has forced the Frenchman to show what he's got before he starts out to flatten him into the semblance of a phonograph record? Must Be Tempting.
Dempsey undoubtedly could whip the Frenchman In the first round it

Sitting on the porch with Dempsey
the other day. I drew him out of his usual reluctance to talk about battle plans to this extent: "I want to get that Frenchman a

away, I may fiddle him through th-3 first round and draw him out. But if he gives me an opportunity right away, or I see a weakness and I feel sure it isn't a faked weakness, I'll start right after him then. Otherwise, I may just lay back and wait patiently until I can get a few good shots at him. Has 36 Minutes. "There's no particular hurry. I'll have 36 fighting mJnutes in which to hammer -him cuckoo. But I'd sure like to get that bird in about the first minute or two yes, sir, I'd like to get him then." He could if he elected to make the
dangerous effort. But he probably won't. Wba Dempsey will do :s coat the Ftenchman into an open'ng up with a series of false attacks in the first iound. Then will come the sec-

administered a defeat to the Eagles a few weeks ago and they are planning to repeat in both games. It is probable that Larson who did such effective twirling against the Eagles will not be in the Farmland lineup, but they have three pitchers who are said to be just as good on the mound. The lineup used by the Eagles last
Sunday will again be used this week, and it is probable that Mincer will hurl the game Monday as Hawekotta is slated to the mound duty Sunday. Farmland has announced that a large number of, rooters will accompany the team for the games, which will offer the fans a chance for some lively competition in the rooting section.
Two of the best games of the season are on the card for the Eagles baseball team for Sunday and Monday afternoon when the fast Farm land te3m will stage a two game series ai Exhib'tion park. The Eagles Lave been playing a better brand of ba'l in the last few games and are showing improvement with
