Indiana, was born April 17. 1S40. at Williamsburg, Indiana, and departed this life peacefully and quietly at fivethirtv p. m., June sixteenth. Nineteen hundred and twenty-one. She was united in marriage to Larkin T. Bond on June sixth, eighteen hundred and sixty-six, at the home of her parents and for the following thirty-three years resided at the home farm west of Williamsburg, where three children came to bless her wedded life: Gertrude. Allen and Leona, of which the daughter, Leona. survives at this time. Some twenty-two years ago the family moved to Richmond, where on November fifteenth, nineteen hundred and ten, her beloved husband departed this life. When Nancy Lewis Bond passed wy one of the bravest hearts was united with its maker; a heart that never faltered In its loyalty and devotion to the cares and responsibilities that life and motherhood had brought to her. and cheerfully and hopefully did she bear with the afflictions of the past few years. Her mind and heart were at all times filled with happy wishes for these neighbors and friends
who shared her acquaintance and to her family, who alone knew her splendid qualities, and for the valor with which she withstood her bodily afflictions we can all say: "Well done, thou brave and noble heart, a heart that was the highest ex- . predion of divinity." To the family and loving sisters and brother and nil friends of Nancv Lewis Bond there Is offered this consolation 4 in somw: " "AND THE CLOI'DS SHALL NOT RETURN' AFTER THE RAIN" However dark and threatening the clouds may be. however vivid the lightning's flash and the thunder's roar, however wild the tempestuous winds, when they have poured out their de'ige they will pass away and never more return. The waves lashed into foaming billows by the tempest may so toys your frail bark that you cry out "Ail tli v waves and thy billows are going over me." but their infinite assault shall cease, and die down into n Infinite caress, and from bluer skic and through purer airs the sun will shine your tears aw. Of every sor- " tor you mav trustfully say "This also shall pass away." Even the pangs of a loved one torn from your dally presence will be changed Into the soft regret for one vanished into the heavens for the L.ird Christ shall he to you "as the light of the morning without rloiids. as the t-nder grass springing out of earth by the clear shining after the rain." Everv sorrow endured here and now is left forever behind and
suan never again meet us on our way. Soon the last trial will be met and passed and Heaven alone will remain. So our troubles diminish in the enduring as drops in a cup in the drinking, but God's comforts are as streams .from the smitten rock tn the wilderness which rock was Christ which followed the Children of Israel all the wav even to the Land of Promise. Even now, our sorrows maye have the rainbow promise of God lighting up their fast falling drops and glorivins them, for He shall wipo every tear, and whn the discipline of sorrow shall have done its work, we shall "sorrow no more" and in that dav the "loved long slnre- and lost awhile" will meet us and greet us in that land toward which we now are .journeying. Thus by the strange alehemv of grace our affliction, which is but for a moment shall work out for us a far more exceeding and eternal wpjsrht of glory, while we look, not at the things that are seen but of the things that are not seen, for the tilings that are seen are temporal, but the things that .f not seen are eternal. i r Closing our eves to earthlv things as the baseless fabric of a vision, we open them upon the eternal realities afar off. and are persuaded of them and embrace them, and confess of the Heavenly Pilgrim great confession, and
'("l himself is not ashamed to call us nis own. and even now is preparing for us a God. home in the heavenly City of Thus while our sorrows mav surround us as a wall, thev cannot cover us as a roof, and the wav is alwavs open for us on the King's Highway. Affliction flies and Hope returns. My lamp with brighter splendor burns, Gay love with all his smiling train, And pease and joy are here again. These, these I knbw, t'was thine to give. I trusted and behold, I live. I o j tiee my humble voice 1 rai se. i-orgive, wnile I presume to praise. Oh. may 1 still Thy favor ask. For continued love and care of past Let truth and virtue guide the heart. Nor peace, nor Joy. nor hope departBut yet what re my Iff, may he. My heart shall still repose in Thee. To Thee my humble voice I raise. Forgive me while I presume to praise. MRS. ROBERT S. ASHE, " 10!) South 13th. City. SUMMER RESORTS 3A i THREE COTTAGES west side Lake!
