PALACE. The following communication vas printed in the Anderson. S. C Mail, and signed by the Rev. Guy H. Frazer. The communication expresses Mr. Grazer's opinion of the picture which is to be Ehown at the Palace Theatre in this city and is as follows: "To Editor Daily Mail: "I wish it were possible for the police to arrest every young man in Anderson and compel them to sit through the picture entitled: "Are You Fit to Marry?" We believe in compulsory education, and this contemplated act, if it could be carried

out would be entirely in keeping with that principle, for education of the sort contained in that picture, if heeded, will do more for the salvation of the race than almost any amount of preaching. We have not begun to capitalize the moving picture house as a blessing. On with the show. Guard our young women for the sake of the little angels. 'GUY H. FRAZER." MURRETTE. After making motion pictures in Eu

rope for nine years John Hohenvest, one of the best known directors on the other side of the Atlantic, is at the Goldwyn studios in Culver City, Cal.. making a. study of American methods of production. He is one of several experts on French life and customs engaged by Frank IJoyd, Pauline Frederick's director, to pass on the accuracy of detail in every set for the Goldwyn star's new play "Madame X," which comes to the Murrette theatre for three days, commencing Sunday. He also has a role in the pray. 9 "Your American Western pictures are verv popular in France and all

over Europe,"- he said recently. "In I fact all American productions except the comedies are very well liked and a number of American stars have just as big a following there as they have in this country'-" MURRAY. One of the most brilliant young actors in the silent drama is playing opposite Edith Roberts in her latest feature picture, "The Unknown Wife." which is announced for next Monday at the Murray Theatre. His name is Casson Ferguson and he is a favorite with many who find clean entertainment in screen productions. Ferguson comes of an old Southern family, having been born near Alex

andre, Louisiana, on what was once

one of the finest plantation estates in the state. He was educated in Xew

Orleans and -later in Paris, where he . , . J ; -1 1 . : , . ti.

sang in grand opera in the French capitol and in concert throughout Europe. Finding the requirements or grand opera too strenuous for his voice, he decided to follow the lighter musical productions, and appeared in musical comedy and in revues in London. He came to America with an English musical show a few years ago and after appearing in New York for some months was engaged by the Paramount company for a role in "Secret Service." Since then he has remained in pictures. MURRAY VAUDEVILLE. A combination of musical comedy and revue entitled "Blossoms," com

posed of a cast of six people. threi men and three girls, will headline the new bill opening Monday matinee at -.the Murray for the first half. They bill their offering as "A Garland of Melody and Dance with Three Buds and Thre Buddies," and from advance reports this act for its refinement and artistry is proving one of the hits or the summer season over the Keith circuit The girls are exceptionally zood-looking, the comedians really funny, which combined with the nine song numbers offeied and the beauti

ful stage settings, gives promise of being one of the most pretentious and acts of the season. The remaining three acts consist of Miss Maude Ryan, formerly of Innes and Ryan, who is accredited with be-

ing one of the best dressed women in vaudeville; Harris and Harris, "Refined Equilibrists," and Robert Swan, "The Syncopated Juggler," while

Edith Roberts will appear on the screen in the five reel feature, "The

Unknown Wife."

The feature act opening Thursday will be Schepp's Comedy Circus billed

as a "Happy Family of Dogs and Monkeys in a Hodge-podge of Bowwow-isms and Monkeyshines." To enumerate the many features presented in this really splendid ex

position of animal intelligence would necessitate voluminous writing. Especially prominent in the program offered is a little Brazillian monkey who is featured as "The Monkey Nut Cracker," whose forte is to take a couple of ordinary bricks and crack nuts; his ambition seems to be satisfied if he can do this throughout the action of the act. Another comedy feature will be Roy and Arthur, two clever comedians in

"A Chinese Restaurant," a continuity of surprises so laughable and mirth provoking as to eclipse any heretofore presented offering in the surprise line. Phil Roy and Roy Arthur are certainly to be commended for furnishing vaudeville with an oering so novel, unique, original and funny.

Also on this bill are Moody and Duncan, two girls in a single offering.

Jazz and opera are the water and oil of music Usually they don't mix. Gertrude Moody and Mary Duncan

have succeeded in thoroughly assimilating it. They offer "Jazz and Opera,

Inc. , which means the two girls sing operatic and jazz numbers. Their work is full of comedy songs cleverly characterized and their singing shows real ability. Completing the bill is Bert Howard, "The Man at the Piano," in songs and comedy. Alice Jaye in "Her Lord and Master," five reel Vita-

graph production will be the screen

feature. V

Young Ed. Swinger, told he must either win a fortune in twenty days or lose his chance to wed the ONE girl, found the key to the problem in a jar of pickles.
