WASHINGTON. You will be transported to the picturesque days of pirate ships, of muti nies and gay romance in Marion Davies'latest' Paramount . picture. "Burled, Treasure. which is, featured at the Washington Theatre. ' More than f 250,000 was pent for the lavish Joseph Urban sets, the hiring of thousands of extras and the star's jewels and costumes. It is from F. Britten Austen's 6tory concerning the theory of reincarnation, . published in Hearst's Magazine. r. - i MURRAY. A romantic, love story spurred at a fast clip through a series of dramatic situations is. the offering at the Murray Theatre. JwhereAll Dolled Up'! began its local engagement last night before a large audience drawn by the irresistible appeal of Gladys Walton. Regardless of thet.popularity of the star, however, a screh story must be good, and in selecting "All Dolled Up" a fortunate choice. ; was . made. How well the feature was liked was manifested last night by the spontaneous applause of the audience. , "All Dolled .Up" shows Miss Walton as a little shop girl with a dream that some day a fairy.prince would come into her life to j.take her from 'the round of drudgery., that fate, exacts, from her for a scant living. j MURRAY VAUDEVILLE. Standards which if maintained (and we have the assurance that they will be) mean much to the vaudeville followers, are set by the four acts playing the Murray the last half of this week. Acts better than any of those showing have been seen on the local stage, but seldom has there been better quality displayed throughout all four acts. ' ; . Clayton and Letinle.. and Weisser and Relsser just about split -even In the public's favor. However, Clayton and Lennie headline the bill. . 'Tis a team of boys, one' decidedly' English, and the other bent entirely to the task of whipping fun out f.the-,"cleva fellow.." Their antics and .satirical song finds instant approval.: . Rivaling for first honors is the black face comedian and the tan skin comedienne. They carry a line of jokes and songs in keeping with their act. "I've Got the Landlord Blues," by the comedian, strikes a popular chord. "If Times Don't Get Better, .the; Stealin's Going to Begin," wins ap-i
plause. The two are excrutiatingly funny. Bicycle and unicycle stunts with an edge over others you may have witnessed are presented by Time and Ward. Most of Time's tricks .are performed upon flights of steps. The young, lady is pretty. Hasso ' and Company deal in . juggling novelties. Rasso is responsible for a series of the best juggling thicks offered in vaudeville. Performing impossible balancing features, he makes each one a success. Gladys Walton in "Ail Dolled Up," is the film feature MARVIN. "

may not become yellow from other causes, and to check up one's judgment it would, of course be necessary to cut across the stems with a knife in order to make sure. In case diseased seedlings were found in a lot it would be well to discard the entire lot since this would indicate that the disease might be present in other plants and yet not be in a stage sufficiently advanced to permit of its detection. The only practical way of guarding against the Introduction of this disease with purchased plants is to carefully examine the whole lot and if any show suspicious yellowing of the leaves and the browning inside the stem, refuse to purchase or at least do not use any of the plants In this lot. I may 6ay that this is undoubtedly not as easy as it sounds and probably is not practiced by any growers. Nevertheless I am confident that the disease is spread Jo a large extent in this way. If you observe suspicious cases I should be glad to have you

The following letter is submitted by the Purdue university agricultural experiment station: The unmistakable symptom of Fusarium wilt on a tomato plant is the presence of a brown discoloration in the ring of veins or fiber vascular bundles in the stem and this can be detected only by cutting across the stem with a knife, in which case the presence of the brown ring is apparent. Of course in the plants in the field we have the more advanced symptoms, such as the wilting and death of the leaves and the stunting of the plant, with which you are undoubtedly familiar. To detect this disease in its very early stages among seedlings, it is obviously a very difficult proposition. I should say that the first and most outstanding sign would be a yellowing of the leaves on one side of the plant and especially a one-sided yellowing of the leaves themselves. This seems to be a typical sign of the wilt disease. By this I do not mean, however, that the leaves ot tomato seedlings
send us specimens by parcel post for diagnosis, and we will inform you at once as to the result of our findings. This would only take a day or two and no doubt you could hold the plants that long. Personally I am very much interested in the possibilities of controlling wilt by just such precautionary mea sures and am therefore all the more anxious to do whatever I can to be of service to you in this regard. Yours very truly, M. W. GARDNER, Associate Botanist
