PARK IMPROVEMENTS 9- MAKE GLEN MILLER MECCA FOR VISITORS
Glen Miller park is being put through the process of spring house cleaning to get It ready to entertain the large number of visitors that take advantage of its voluminous shade, rolling greens, and many other facilities for getting back to nature, dunng the summer months. The natural beauty of the Glen is not surpassed toy any municipal park In this part of the country, according
to scenic experts who have sen paries in many cities. To this are added several artificial effects designed to preserve the rustic attractiveness of the park. Flower beds situated at numerous r.dvantageous positions give . added beauty to the original scenes. Plans this year call for the planting of 10,000 more plants than ever before. The pansy beds v.hich have been in bloom for the past month and a half have caused considerable comment and the fower effects planned by Henry J. Fulle, florist for the park, for the remainder of the summer are expected to be even better. Cleaning Lake. Work on the tennis courts and the cleaning of the lake has been in progress for spme time. Water will be turned into the lake by May 15. Superintendent Ed Hollarn states that the lake has been deepened an avers,ge of three feet, in some places seven fret Of dirt, having been removed. The roadway known as Deer Park Hill has been widened five feet, a brick curb and gutter put in and banks of the drive sodded. Brick curb and gutter has been laid in front of the pavillion. Ten npw picnic tables have been si tided, all the benches and swings repainted and repaired, and are now in shape for the summer. Sipns piving directions to certain parts of the park, explaining the names and features of the animals and Instructions to picnickers have been placed at various places throughout the park.

v ; J WASHINGTON "Beau Revel" the first ot a, series or Thomas H. Ince-Louis Joseph Vance picture productions, i3 being presented at the Washington Theatre. It Is a Paramount feature of exceptional merit. A story of the love intrigues of a wealthy, ultra-fashionable New York man-about-town, the picture is said to embody a novel and entirely
original theme. A practically all-star cast is featured, which includes Lewig Stone, Florence Vidor, Lloyd Hughes. Kathleen Kirkham, Harlan Tucker and William Conklin. "Beau Revel" was directed by John Griffith Wray. under the personal supervision of Thomas H. Ince. MURRETTE, After studying classic dancing for years in the belief that she would some time find it useful in her pictures, Norma Talmadge's first fancydancing role came in "The Passion Flower," her newest Associated First National picture, which is being shown at the , Murrette Theatre., Then Norma was called upon to do a Spanish dance utterly different from anything she had ever learned. For weeks she was busy forgetting the rules of classic dancing she had formerly learned. "The Passion Flower," it is said, will be Norma Talmadee's most
I lavish production to date. It was di
rected by Herbert Brenon and boasts Of an extraordinary cast. MURRAY VAUDEVILLE. Quite wide is the range reached by the bill the last half of this week.
Persons with tastes whetted by long association with the best phonograph artists; or those more at home at a circus than an opera, can find something to cause interest.
Leading the four acts, is that of
Viva Ethelia, who, it Is said, was buU-Buffalo. N. Y.. are visiting with Mr.
recently with the Metropolitan Grand
Opera company of- New York. Her most finished performance waa her Bong accompanied by the notes of a f.ute. We like her street clothes better than the costume in which she first appears. Dancing is for the most part, what the Kashner sisters excell in, and they have ample opportunity to display their talent. Their numbers consist of one of the 17th century; one of the Turkish blend; one setting forth tho art of the Chinese, and another of the old fashioned buck variety. Appropriate costumes are worn in each. The girli also have a bit of song. Williams & Howard have a good line. From the moment they step on, until the time for stepping off, they fill each minute with gag after gag. They
are justified in their appearance for
they have a new string of jokes. There is no doubt that Tom Mills is
a cyclist, but we are not so sure about his caJline as a comedian. He's the kind that amuses children but wears out with the more mature. On the bicycle, however, he is a true performer. "The Law of the Yukon," is the dim feature. Marvin.
